Never thought I’d consider a Christian church the enemy.
I obviously was not thinking well.

When churches get paid millions to take care of and support illegals this will be the ultimate and intended outcome. It inevitably becomes a profit center for churches and ultimately money wins and society loses.

ANY organization with tax-exempt status that takes a political stance, be it for a candidate, party, action or protest should IMMEDIATELY have its tax-exempt status denied, and remain denied until they mend their ways or are sustained on appeal. Similarly, if they break laws, the same should apply. I think that “sanctuary” is sufficiently proof of lawbreaking.

Forget battering down the doors to snag the illegals and criminals. Just make them pay taxes, like anyone else, if they want to be political, and put it in place upon their declaration or action.

This could clean up churches and make them return to the original mission of serving the Lord.

It could also hit hate-filled colleges (to wit, Oberlin) and institutions (not just universities, how about cities or states?) who illegally and immorally profit by not paying taxes to the Federal government.

Miscreants should also have the ‘privilege’ of paying real estate taxes as we do, but maybe some sanctuary cities and states can decide to cover their Federal losses by increasing local taxes. BWAAHAHAHAHAHA

Are you sure you mean the Bedazzled movie?

I thought satan was played by Elizabeth Hurley and God by Gabreiel Casseus, no?

Or maybe there was a sequel?

Sounds like they are ready to finally start paying their “fair share” of income taxes. Freeloaders.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)

Oh, those are the Queer "lutherans".

They're about as Lutheran, as David Duke is a Republican.

Glad I left the ELCA when they started ordaining openly homosexual pastors. I haven’t regretted it for a single moment.

All these “nice religious people” and their so-called churches that say Pride in sin is a good thing.

Yes, “classic” meant the truly great original 1967 version with the accomplished and incomparable dramatic actress Racquel Welch as Lust (one of the personified sins working for Satan). All I remember of the pale sequel was the glimpse of Hurley’s undergarment in crimson. Clever.

I often remember lines of satire about religion from the original, which actually was like an H.L. Mencken sort of cynical take on extremely serious matters. One line (Satan:) “More problems? Why can’t I get better people as sins down here? Must be the wages.”

Dudley Moore tries acting out his desired future role of being in Heaven and adoring God, moving in a circle around Him. He soon gets bored and tired but Satan says, sorry, you’ll have to joyously do that continuously for eternity.
Satan’s plan for him is eternity in Hell.

It depends on where the church is located. In more culturally-conservative areas, e.g. southern Illinois, you’ll find churches that are rock-solid. I grew up UMC in that area but have long since left, but I have relatives who are still UMC. I have visited those churches and was impressed. A lot of them have gone the direction of worship bands and “praise songs,” while I prefer organs and hymns, but the preaching can’t be faulted. My late father’s pastor, who is a woman by the way, told the congregation flat out that there would be no homosexual weddings there. She preached my father’s funeral sermon, which was truly a blessing.

Ten years ago, a %’s of this sect began to search for some real churches.

Now, many of their ‘newer churches’ are following what they left behind.

I have relatives who are ELCA, because they were life-long members of the Lutheran denominations that formed the ELCA. These are small-town and rural churches. The rural church is so far out in the boondocks that you get to it by a gravel road. All of these relatives are Trump supporters. I’ll have to ask them what they think of this and what there fellow church members and pastors think of this, and whether this might not be the last straw for conservatives in the ELCA. Where I am from in southwestern Illinois there are many small-town United Church of Christ congregations that were originally Evangelical and Reformed. Some of them have finally had enough (what took them so long?) after the UCC’s stance on homosexual marriage, and pulled out and gone independent or formed a loose affiliation with like-minded congregations.
