Democrats threaten Supreme Court to issue liberal rulings or face court-packing
Breitbart ^ | 8/13/19 | Ken Klukowski

WASHINGTON, DC –Democrat presidential candidates and senators this week renewed their threats that unless the U.S. Supreme Court issues liberal rulings on the Second Amendment and other issues, Democrats will fundamentally restructure the nation’s highest court, a shocking threat to judicial independence not seen since the 1930s.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) filed an amicus brief (“friend of the court” legal brief) at the Supreme Court on Monday, joined by follow leftwing partisan Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Richard Durbin (D-IL), and presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), demanding that the Supreme Court back out of a case over one of the most restrictive gun control laws in America.

These leading Democrats also warned that if the justices proceed to issue a pro-Second Amendment ruling, and if Democrats win the White House and the Senate in 2020, then they will fundamentally remake the High Court.

The liberal senators warn that “a growing majority of Americans believes this Court is motivated mainly by politics,” accusing the justices of issuing rulings through “bare partisan majorities.”

The Democrat senators – one of whom is running for president – told the Court to either “heal itself” or be “restructured” if Democrats take power.

Each of these Democrats fiercely opposed President Donald Trump’s nominating Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, with opposition to Kavanaugh sinking to a level of personal viciousness unprecedented in the history of American judicial confirmations.

WHAT CIVIL WAR!!!???

You ALL underestimate where the under 40 crowd stands on issues and in another 10 years ANOTHER 20 or 30 percent of those who would have been willing to fight a civil war for the right will be dead.

I believe you’re right, and I do personally fear this. All the more reason to start it up sooner than later. I’m ready to get it over with.

AGREED, though just ONE decision (ROE V. WADE) caused more needless DEATHS of children than can ever be counted.

We put up with their crap, leftist rulings for years.

It’s time for a return to SANITY.

Let them TRY TO GET A CHANGE IN THE SUPREME COURT.

I am a docile acceptor of those who manage to get in power, BUT NOT THIS TIME.

They will see opposition that they never thought existed.

The civil war everyone is chomping at the bit for is a deathwish repeat of the N vs the S. Who do you think our government is going to side with?
We would not be fighting against small arms fire of leftists. We would be fighting against drone attacks that can target an individual, techno giants that would paralyze communication. Not to mention heavy artillery.
The patriots that founded this country fought and died for it. The PC worship I see reminds me of how few “conservatives” stand their ground.
Warning if you foght against us we will take away your medicare card, mpnthly check, love the dems.
Our military leadership has been busy imprisoning chaplains.
The record numbers of border crossers are cannon fodder. O wait, I don’t have a cannon, do you?
The dems want the end of American democracy and this deathwish would complete it faster than any other means.
Your children and grandchildren are already tax slaves, they will be worse.

"Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Supreme Court of the United States shall hereafter consist of the Chief Justice of the United States and eight associate justices, any six of whom shall constitute a quorum; and for the purposes of this act there shall be appointed an additional associate justice of said court." — Judiciary Act of 1869 § 1 President Roosevelt wrote a plan that would allow him to appoint one new justice for each current justice over the age of 70.5 years old, up to a maximum of six additional justices, which would expand the size of the Supreme Court from nine to fifteen. Congress understood the President's idea was unconstitutional, so they refused to pass the legislation. Eventually, the old members of the Supreme Court began retiring and passing away, so Roosevelt was able to appoint eight replacements without adding to the size of the Court.

The only thing keeping a lid on this is the polls that show Trump behind. If Trump wins there is going to be wide scale riots bank it. I worry women will be affected by this possibility and vote for the Rat to “restore calm” to the country. Women don’t like the strife they see on a daily basis.

".... RAT voters should be made to wear some badge of shame...."

At least you're not calling for their executions like the Left is doing to conservatives.

The rabid radical Leftist on MSNBC and CNN want to forcibly "eliminate" Trump supporters because they are all racists and white supremacists an....well.... because they like Trump.

According to the Left, anybody who likes Trump should be violently attacked and kilt.

True story.

Good point, but Roe might have likely not made it to the USSC if the US District Court in Texas had not ruled in Roe’s favor to begin with.

Trump ought to sign on with court packing and immediately nominate 12 conservative Supreme Court justices and send them to the Senate. The Dems will change their position on court packing so fast it will cause a tornado.

SOME US District Court WOULD have so ruled had the TX court not done so, imo. = ROE was one of several such cases.

That said, we NEED to get as many federal judges seated at ALL federal courts as possible.

“...DJT may lose what should be a solid reelection, ...”

If he signs on to the gun control legislation they are plotting and scheming, he definitely will.

It’s not only the Dems; it’s RINOs too.

Pat Toomey (R) and Joe Manchin (D) are back together again, pushing the same S they tried when OBunghole was in office.

Thus, it is quite proper to describe our system as a democratic republic keeping in mind that it is also a constitutional republic.

You can make the claim, but it isn't "proper" in any way, shape or form.
We can't be both.
We were a "Confederation of States" with a constitution at one point as well. The key common denominator was a constitution.

The Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation, the first constitution of the United States, on November 15, 1777.

Delusional liberal tyrants. They actually think they are going to win in 2020. Otherwise, the threat makes no sense.

Look at it this way...
You have vehicles (forms of government).
The two vehicles in question are a car (democratic republic) and a truck (constitutional republic).

Only an idiot would say they are the same thing.

Yet you're trying to convince me that a truck is a car.
Get the picture? I'm not an idiot.

If there will be no one to maintain that freedom it would be in vain.

Patriots need to change the hearts and minds of the brainwashed, indoctrinated masses through education. That is the true civil war!

Decided to research this a little. Apparently one of the Justices who had previously voted against New Deal issues decided to switch his votes, perhaps from political pressure. Eventually FDR’s plan died. Seems like our Roberts is doing some of the same.
