How the ‘Jordan Option’ will affect Israel: The biggest game-changer since the Six Day War.
American Thinker ^ | 08/14/2019 | Ted Belman

The “Jordan Option,” as articulated by and Mudar Zahran, the Secretary General of the Jordan Opposition Coalition, and myself, anticipates that King Abdullah will abdicate, willingly or otherwise, and that Mudar Zahran will take over Jordan as its leader.

This option was first disclosed to the public shortly after the inauguration of President Trump in The Ultimate Alternate Israel-Palestine SolutionWhat was unique about this iteration of the Option was that it called for King Abdullah to abdicate and for Mudar Zahran to become Jordan’s leader. Save for that, the Jordan Option had been proposed on and off since 1980.

A year ago, I asked, Will Trump's Deal of the Century Solve the Middle East's Problems? The article refines the original Plan  and references Trump’s Deal of the Century.

A few months later, I wrote The Jordan Option: The Only Game in Town:

The Jordan Option, as proposed by Mudar Zahran, leader of the Jordanian Opposition Coalition, and me, recognizes that nothing acceptable to Israel can be achieved by negotiating with King Abdullah or Mahmoud Abbas.  This option is very much in line with Trump's Deal of the Century, which considers Jordan to be the Palestinian state east of the Jordan River and Israel, the Jewish state west of the river.

Nothing will happen with the Deal of the Century until Zahran becomes the leader of Jordan.  In fact, the Deal of the Century is the Jordan Option.

Zahran is very open as to what his intentions are once in power.

“Jordon will grant citizenship to all Palestinians wherever they may live.
Jordan will have an open-door policy for the return of all Palestinians.”

The Palis will not be settle for anything less than the elimination of Israel.

True, but by retaining the west bank, Israel would not have as deep a preexisting wedge point to split the country North and South at the Tel Aviv-Yafo line. Still a precarious position, but a much better situation potentially.

Israel did offer dual citizenship to the Jordanians that remained on the west bank after the war, including voting and property rights...

People of the book indeed. That is a Meccan thought in a medinan culture. ...no dhimi, no digity...

Trump's Deal of the Century, which considers Jordan to be the Palestinian state east of the Jordan River and Israel, the Jewish state west of the river.

This is historically the "two state solution" that was intended from the beginning.

AT has been peddling this for some time.

So far, I have seen no evidence that it is on the horizon.

Abdullah will eventually die. But he’s only 57 years old. Unlikely to abdicate any time soon. Unless forced out.

I very much doubt that Zahran has either the stones or the horses for that.

It makes sense. My fear is that even if Jordan wants to push the PLA & Abas aside, and even if they manage to do that in some way, it will mean a repeat of war between the Arabs in the West Bank and Jordan. Jordan will have to militarily subdue the Arabs in the West Bank to get them to go along with it. And then it will be grudgingly and they will likely continue to cause problems inside Jordan. A hard core of the Arabs in the West Bank will never consider the destruction of Israel a lost cause.

And ......Jordan is Palestine since 1947. Trans Jordan really is.

Then there is the Hashemite King

His family was kicked out of Saudi Arabis, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina. They lodged in Syria and were kicked out and lodged in Jordan. Now, finally, they will be gone from anything that matters. All within a hundred years

I’m for it.

What is the view of the GCC? Egypt? They are what matters

Jordan was supposed to be the “Palestinian” state, until the Hashemites basically threw them out.

What’s to stop Abdullah from seizing the initiative and implementing this himself?

They would turn Jordan into East Gaza, and Hamas would rule it. Peace and Prosperity is not the goal with these crazies.

King Hussein won’t abdicate. Abdication didn’t work very well for the Romanoffs, did it. Would the British royal family abdicate? Abdication will not happen.
