Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is reporting for duty. The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate revealed on Monday that she'll be leaving for active duty in Indonesia with the National Guard for two weeks, where she'll participate in a joint-training exercise with the Indonesian military. She returns to the campaign trail on Aug. 25.
"I look forward to joining my fellow soldiers for a joint-training exercise with the Indonesian military, focused on counterterrorism and disaster response," she said in a statement on Monday.
The press are wondering if she's concerned whether this will be a "setback" for her campaign. But as she told Fox News's Paul Steinhauser, she's "not thinking about the politics of it."

Gabbard's 16 years of military service has included a deployment to Iraq in 2004 and another to Kuwait in 2008. One of the most consistent features of her campaign has been her call to end long, costly wars.
The congresswoman had just started to gain momentum after confronting Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) over her criminal justice record in the last debate.
“She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana," Gabbard revealed on stage.
Her public takedown of Harris gained her some fans, but it also left her open to criticism about her foreign policy. As Sen. Harris reminded voters an hour or so after the debate, Gabbard has been an "apologist" for Syrian President Bashar al Assad.
In a recent campaign event, Gabbard explained that she will talk to dictators anywhere, any time if it means protecting Americans.
"So I will continue to meet with brutal dictators in the pursuit of preventing more of our brothers and sisters from being sent into harm's way on missions that make our country less safe, that cause more loss of life, then I will do so," she said.

Her father was a pretty conservative Republican until Hawaii turned even further left. He was Anti-Homosexual Agenda, Pro Traditional Marriage, Pro Life, Pro USA. He switched to D to keep his job, stayed conservative for a while, but now keeps quiet and works mostly on environmental issues. Wherever she learned her leftist values, it wasn't from her father. If those are her values at all. Maybe what she learned from her father is that you adjust your values to attain power.
She’s for real. She deserves better than to be defeated by Trump. That “honor” should go to one of the Smurfs, like Beto or Bernie or Fauxcohantas, someone who deserves the humiliation.
Donald John Trump is about to directly become her commander-in-chief. She will be on federal active duty and in the US Army for 2 weeks. The UCMJ will apply toward any relevant statement that she might make about him.
The exact words of the Uniform Code of Military Justice Article 88 - Contempt Toward Public Officials states: “Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
Of course, I am sure that she knows this and will act accordingly. (wink and a nod)
None of this changes the fact that US citizen by virtue of the Immigration and Naturalization Act Tulsi Gabbard is not an Article II, Section one, clause five Natural Born Citizen constitutionally qualified to be POTUS.
So traded convictions for power and the almighty dollar, par for the course.
Is there precedent for congresspeople in active duty?
Gabby does claim great credit for her modest military effort—and does so at every public interview/appearance.
She is wearing it like johnny Fn Kerry wore his medal soaked Vietnam combat experience. She obviously exclaims her service at every opportunity for perceived political advantage. Boring.

Among her quotes was "The president is inciting racism and violence in our country as a whole. This is what’s so dangerous about what he’s doing is he’s using his platform to incite this racism and bigotry when really he’s just doing it for his own political gain." In effect, she's blaming him and his supporters (us) for what happens in the cities the Democrats run.
She is not reporting for Active Duty. She is reporting for Annual Training.
She’s also a fake and fraud. She was raised in a conservative home and use to give speeches about marriage being a sacrament of God between a man a woman and wanted a constitutional amendment to say just that. She thought the idea of same-sex “marriage” was ridiculous. She was also pro life, and said all abortion was wrong. Then she decided to run for office as a democrat and flipped on a dime, saying she all in for homosexual “marriage” and believed a woman had the right to kill her baby for any reason. In other words she sold her soul to run as a democrat. This meant one thing. She has no core believes and like any democrat will do and say anything for a vote.
Gabbard is serving in active duty as an enemy of the once DNC POS known as Debbie Wasserman Schultz. That to be honest makes Gabbard more my friend than opponent.
