Phoenix in August, in the afternoon? Man, 20 minutes could have finished that baby right off.

Yes, instead of offering to babysit someone’s kids while they go out to shop, some people prefer to trash a mother of four. She may be guilty of neglect or stupidity, but sometimes people are just overworked and stressed out. It does happen.

I surprised one of the 3 others kids didn’t ask... where’s the baby.

THAT... is a good observation. Now I'm wondering too.

I am sorry for the loss of your child to SIDS.

While in the military a young friend of mine lost 2 children to SIDS. Different ages, different fathers, different baby sitters. They were able to bring the 2nd child back and as they airlifted the child to Andrews AFB the d**n military doctor took the child off of oxygen before they landed the plane. They were not able to bring the child back a 2nd time.

She had herself fixed. She just couldn’t shake the despair of losing 2 children with only herself being the only common denominator in each case. It was so rough for her.

That is so sad. It is so easy to blame yourself.even though it isn’t warranted.

It was watching her go through the needless loss of the 2nd child I think, that did her in emotionally.

The last I knew, her parents was taking the government to court. Since she was active duty there was something that stopped her from filing.

The arrogance of that doctor that took the 2nd child off of the oxygen before the plane landed...that %^*((**^^ should have been charged with Negligent Manslaughter. Don’t think anything ever happened to that jerk.

She had taken her first baby for pictures down at Sears and I ran into her while having a set of pictures done of me and my beloved. When Sears notified me my pictures were ready I realized she was at her parents house out of state for the funeral of her first baby.

I went to Sears and when they refused to give me her prints I informed the lady there that not only would I be writing a letter to Sears telling them of the death and resulting arrogance and uncaring attitude of their sales personnel, that I would also be going to the newspaper. I got the pictures after that promise of action. I purchased every single picture they had and gave them to her once she got back home. They were the only pictures she had of the baby. Told her to please accept them as the least I could do for her, considering the circumstances.

I don’t think she even had a chance to have any pictures of her second child as it passed away so young.

The military were asses all the way around. They were accusing her of it being her fault. They back tracked after it came out that the two SIDS cases happened at 2 different baby sitters.

Sigh. I had read that once you have one child pass because of SIDS it increases the odds of another having it. I thought it was garbage. After that, I didn’t think so.

Off my soapbox.

It’s been what, 32, maybe 33 years and I still become angry because of the way she was treated.

Sigh.

So then you don’t really know if your wife is rarely wrong.

Well, OK, a wife is seldom wrong, hehe

If a woman is always right, and a man is always wrong, if the man says the woman is right is he right or wrong?

If a man is in the forest, and his wife isn't around to hear him, is he still wrong?

Yes, I agree. There are certainly some cases where mommy and daddy were so drugged or drunk that they didn’t even care, but in many cases, it’s probably simply someone who just was running like mad to get to work or get the shopping done, etc. And probably had some break in their routine that made them inattentive.

I left my 7-yr old daughter in a bank one time and I didn’t even realize it until they called. She was supposed to go off with her friends on a day camp trip but at the last minute she said she didn’t want to go to camp but wanted to come with me to go grocery shopping for the day camp (which was on my property). When we got to the bank and I had to wait on line for ages (this was before the dawn of the ATM) she drifted off to look at stuff behind one of those revolving racks and I simply got my money and walked out the door, because I was thinking of her as being on the day camp trip.

So things can happen, and it bothers me when people’s first response is to attack the parents. They may deserve it, but maybe not, so give them a break. It’s always better - and easier - to not say something at the moment than to repent later of having said the wrong things.

My Mother lost my brother while out trick or treating one year. He was about 4 years old and luckily a neighbor saw him and brought him home. I don’t think my Mom ever forgave herself because she only turned her back for a moment. Yes, there are some “parents” out there who willfully do this, essentially murdering their kids, but SOME are just distracted. I often feel sorry for single parents I see at a store, they’re trying to shop and the kids are a handful. God help them.
