I think the author is being a bit premature. He’s right about the depth of stench in the Deep State, but I think most Americans still don’t know the extent of it. It has not gotten the media attention it should, and probably won’t until and less those who were formerly in power are held accountable.
I’m hopeful it will happen, but not holding my breath.
It's been exposed and proven to the satisfaction (and horror) of people like us.
But it's still largely suppressed in the 'big' media and all the smaller outlets that may not be directly under their control, but influenced by it.
I live in the Detroit area -- not exactly small town America. There are two supposedly-major newspapers, one with a (somewhat) conservative tilt, and one with a mainstream liberal leaning. They both breathlessly report every utterance negative to President Trump, but virtually nothing about the nuts-and-bolts of the attempted takedown of his presidency, other than, perhaps, "We got him this time, for sure!"
Journalism is mostly dead.
