This seems to be quite different from our old family doctor, who saw my parents and us kids, even after we left home. It was nice having a doctor who didn’t have to look up your medical history every time you came in.

After he retired, we ended up seeing whomever was free that day.

Grew up in Freehold...but glad to be out of that dark and fascist state with my firearms collection intact.

26...what a bunch of soy boys our society is raising. My son is 15, and has been objecting to going to the pediatrician for a couple of years.

My question is why isn’t this doctor referring these patients instead of trying to treat something she wasn’t trained to treat?

"...That's a man," she recalls thinking.

Well, how judgmental! He identifies as a 7-year-old. Girl.

Apparently, most pediatricians don’t want to treat patients older than 18 or 20, and most internists won’t see patients younger than early 20’s,

When did this start?

I quit seeing a pediatrician at about age 13 or 14 and saw a GP ever after. Never a problem.

As it is, doctors are already more oriented to inpatient problems during med school and residency, not chronic outpatient diseases.
So this lady is a pediatrician who’s done a 3-year residency and been in practice however many years since then without seeing common adult chronic diseases or learning about new drugs - is that who you would want treating your diabetes?

GP’s see all ages; Internists only see adults. (Except for the new Pediatric Internists).

Sounds like me. Left home at 17 after graduation. I’d have become a bag lady before I’d asked for, or accepted, help from my parents. Ditto for my sister. Our three brothers, OTOH, never had any problem taking from Mom and Dad.

We had a GP as kids, when I grew up and got married, and started my own family I used him as my OB through 3 children, until we moved away from the area. He delived all 3, and since he was a surgeon he did the C-Section on #3.

But he was a GP/Surgeon not a peditrician.
