It will support STOBAR (Short Take Off But Arrested Recovery) operations with a ski jump for take-off like the INS Vikramaditya, instead of a steam catapult.
Means planes will have limited range and limited armament due to limitations of ski-jump style. Useful only in near shore defensive operations or in fleet defense. No real offensive capability.

Looking at pictures of the Vikrant, I notice a 3-sided phased array radar on the ships island.
If I was an Indian sailor, I would not want to stand watch to close to that thing if I wanted to have kids someday.
