Uh Oh, Silicon Valley Is Building Chinese-Style Social Credit System
Fast Company ^ | Mike Elgan

Have you heard about China’s social credit system? It’s a technology-enabled, surveillance-based nationwide program designed to nudge citizens toward better behavior. The ultimate goal is to “allow the trustworthy to roam everywhere under heaven while making it hard for the discredited to take a single step,” according to the Chinese government.

In place since 2014, the social credit system is a work in progress that could evolve by next year into a single, nationwide point system for all Chinese citizens, akin to a financial credit score. It aims to punish for transgressions that can include membership in or support for the Falun Gong or Tibetan Buddhism, failure to pay debts, excessive video gaming, criticizing the government, late payments, failing to sweep the sidewalk in front of your store or house, smoking or playing loud music on trains, jaywalking, and other actions deemed illegal or unacceptable by the Chinese government.

TOTALLY outside our legal system and now they're building it HERE.

Aspects of it are already in place; we are ALL Hong Konging Falun-Gongers now, apparently.

For a great expose of techno-centric Liberal Oligarchal Capitalism, see THIS link.

.

.

US social media has an emerging NOMENKLATURA system, and if your name is on the LIST of Thought Crime Persons, then it's okay for everyone to publicly threaten you with DEATH

There was a Black Mirror episode about the pitfalls of this type of system. Truly horrifying!

...criticizing the government...

The Democrats want this so badly - they are probably redirecting Federal funds to Google to get it done faster.

Blacklisting is only legal, allowed, and encouraged when the people being blacklisted are conservatives. Otherwise, blacklisting is strictly forbidden and illegal.

Teaching our own 65-75 million voters that doing internet searches does not equal “Googling” something would be a big step forward.

Has anyone checked out mylife.com? It has more information about us than you would expect, and they have Reputation Scores for everyone... And it's free to use for whatever... So, yes we already have the structure in place for a Social Credit scoring system that can affect your life.

From the article:

Lesay you want insurance here in the USA and the ins company asks you if you do rock-climbing and you say NO

But on your FB page you post photos of you climbing rocks; the company CAN legally bill you as if you had instead responded YES.

Outrageous? Not at all but the legal precident means they can use that same logic in a million different ways, scanning your photos, etc.

So remember that.

Just wait and see how long the social credit scores last in the US the first time a minority is denied a good or service because their Social Credit Score is too low and Silicon Valley gets hit a multi-billion dollar discrimination lawsuit.

I think we all knew this was coming and the big banks, at least are all on board with it already. The smaller banks will follow or will be cut off from doing business with the big ones Eventually FR posters will find they are not permitted to utilize bank services at all. Among many other things. Chik Fil A will lose its bank accounts and all the gun stores and manufacturers , etc.

I was researching how I might hack my nVidia Shield TV box because it runs Android and has a microphone in the remote for Google Assistant and I don’t trust the damn thing.

I did run across some ways to do it and it’s pretty much the same things has hacking(rooting) an Android phone.

It’s not for the faint of heart or the tech challenged and there’s always a possibility of “bricking” the device but I’m seriously thinking about doing it. Unfortunately, no one’s come up with a way to root our particular phone so we might have to get a model that’s more hackable.

Basically it’s a process of wiping the device and putting a version of Android on it that doesn’t include any google software. It uses an open source version of Android.

If they can ban cash we will all be begging for .gov to tell us what to think and what web sites to go to so we can eat.

The old Chuck Colson quote was: “If you grab them by the b****s their hearts and minds will follow.”

That is the leftist’s plan.
