‘Apart from a transcendent God there is no such thing as objective ethics. “Sound” or otherwise.’
so the millions of individuals who either acknowledge no deities, or who follow multiple gods have never held, or even been aware of an ‘objective ethic’ in pursuing their lives...?
“so the millions of individuals who either acknowledge no deities, or who follow multiple gods have never held, or even been aware of an objective ethic in pursuing their lives...?”
What would make any ethic they are pursuing “objective?” If they don’t believe in a transcendent God which commands such morals, they are merely following their personal preferences or social convention. That may or may not square up with Judeo-Christian morality. If there is no transcendent God there is no basis for calling anything objectively “right” or “wrong”. At best it could only be legal or illegal; popular or unpopular. And those can and do change quite frequently.
