“16) There are only two genders.”
This is a losing argument. “Gender” is a social-cultural-psychological construct — anyone can be any “gender” one wishes to delude oneself into believing they are. OTOH, there are two, and only two sexes. Sex is an immutable, binary, biological fact. Gender is fluid; and, ultimately all in the mind. Do not conflate those terms — doing so, is the fastest way to lose the debate. Simply say:”there are only two sexes”.
Gender is a grammatical construct, not a social-cultural-psychological construct.
English only has three genders:
1. masculine
2. feminine
3. neuter
Choose one.
I am 75 and was taught in grade school NEVER to use the word gender to apply to a person the term gender, which was masculine, feminine or neuter, was understood to apply only to pronouns and anything to the contrary would bring you a low grade and a serious reprimand from the teacher.
