Yep, open carry. Per the Washington Times...

“The Bentonville, Arkansas-based discounter said Tuesday it will stop selling handgun ammunition as well as short-barrel rifle ammunition, such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber used in military style weapons, after it runs out of its current inventory. That in turn will reduce Walmart’s market share of ammunition from around 20% to a range of about 6% to 9%, according to a memo by the company CEO Doug McMillon.

Walmart will also discontinue handgun sales in Alaska. Walmart stopped selling handguns in the mid-1990s in every state but Alaska. The latest move marks its complete exit from that business and allows it to focus on hunting rifles and related ammunition only.

The retailer is further requesting that customers refrain from openly carrying firearms at its Walmart and Sam’s Club stores unless they are law enforcement officers. However, it said that it won’t be changing its policy for customers who have permits for concealed carry. Walmart says it will be adding signage in stores to inform customers of those changes.”

I’m so jealous of any state that has that store. I was drooling over their firearms for a bit.

Man, to live in a free state...

Family Dollar and Dollar General could drive up customer numbers and profit if they started selling ammo.

Not enough employees. They barely have enough to run the registers in my neck of the woods.

Needed a battery charger the other day. I gladly paid ten bucks more at Ace rather than subject myself to Walmart which now seems to run by die hard Liberals.

My BIG beef with rural king is ...

5% off (meaning all merchandise is priced 5% higher) for rural king credit card payers.

I won’t give any outfit my SSN. Haven’t in ten years. This is like punishing me for paying cash.

Wise up rural king — stop pressuring people for personal information — every company will one day be hacked.

Maybe placate us older folk with a 5% senior discount.

RK sells guns online and they only charge $12 shipping!

You have to have the gun shipped to a local gun dealer so they can do the background check and do the transfer. Most only charge $25 for doing the transfer.

Most times RK will have guns far lower than the $37 it will cost for shipping and transfer.

Good for Rural King! My brother and I have purchased from them; they have a nice inventory of guns and ammo. I hope they stay the course.

Walmart doesn’t WANT open carry but they didn’t (can’t) outright ban it.

In my state, the following rule applies: A private property owner has the right to prohibit individuals from carrying firearms on his or her property, whether concealed or otherwise, and regardless of whether the person is a CPL holder. If a person remains on the property after being told to leave by the owner, the person may be charged with trespassing.

So, since they're a private business, I believe they can make their stores non-open carry. Please note: they said nothing about concealed carry.

I live in a semi-rural area, but the big town is about an hour away. I would no sooner think of open carrying there than I would tucking my blouse in so people could see the butt of my pistol. That 's just asking for trouble from people who think they are entitled to a "scare-free" life.

Somebody would call the boys in brown, and the boys, being bored, would send half the force (like 15?) patrol cars just to watch the fun. No charges would be pressed, but the lectures would start with "What are you, a fool? Put that thing away! Nice gun, tho, where'd you get it? Which range do you shoot at?"

On the other hand, were I to go to my "village" (that's being generous) in my flannel nightgown, long down coat and knee-high Sorrels with a gas can and an AR strapped on my back, no one would look twice.

Gotta keep the arms visually appropriate.

“”I’d love to see just ONE major retailer advertise a 5% DISCOUNT for open carrying customers...on the basis that this enhances their security and decreases the likelihood of being mass-shooting target.””

That makes too much sense. I wonder what Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shop will do.

".... I have never ever heard of the Rural King...."

I live in rural Florida on a cattle farm quite a ways from a big city. Rural King is "king" for us.

Beside buying food at the grocery store, Rural King is the biggest retailer we frequent.

They are a relatively new operation but they have everything under the sun and they beat everybody's prices.

Huge store with everything you'd want at home or the farm.

".... Who’s ever heard of Rural King?..."

Speak for yourself. Rural King is our favorite store here in Florida. They have everything you'd want but groceries.

But there in only 13 states.

Rural King is like a giant Tractor Supply with lower prices.

I seldom go the Tractor Supply anymore after Rural King opened up near us.
