President Trump's 'Grand Bargain' on Guns
townhall.com ^ | 9/8/2019 | Wayne Allen Root

Nonetheless, I'm willing to compromise. I'm willing to give Democrats a crown jewel of what they've demanded for decades.

I want President Donald Trump to call their bluff. Democrats want "universal background checks" on all gun sales. Let's give it to them -- as soon as Democrats agree to federal government-issued photo and fingerprint ID for every voter in America.

Now there's a grand bargain. Isn't that an offer too good to refuse? Democrats claim they want to stop gun violence. They claim universal background checks are the answer. So why would they reject this offer? Are they so frightened by voter ID that they're willing to let gun violence and mass shootings continue unabated?

What's so scary about voter ID? Don't Democrats claim "election integrity" is a top priority? Aren't they worried about "foreign interference" in U.S. elections? So why isn't it a priority to prevent voter fraud?

Oh Wayne. That's just silly. You see, requiring some sort of proof to vote violates someones rights where as requiring that sort of thing concerning firearms is............. Oh. Never mind. On the other hand. Infringed means what it means. And you know they would 'Lucy' us and yank the ball once we agreed to what they want.

I really don’t think that DJT is willing to “bargain away” our NATURAL RIGHTS.
Otoh, I believe that he KNOWS that he can expose the DIMocRATS utter dishonesty & hypocrisy on voter ID & upon the 2nd Amendment.

The POTUS is about 100X as bright as the DIMocRATS are.
(That’s WHY they are routinely identified as “DIM”, i.e., STUPID.)

I’ve believed for some time that this is how the GOP should be responding to all of this nonsense. If the Dems want a 2A restriction, they’re going to have to concede on something of equal value. Major abortion restrictions should be suitable. And make it a Constitutional amendment so that neither side can unilaterally back out of it after its done. Make it clear that this is the ONLY way they get anything on 2A.

The Dems will never agree to give up anything, and that’s the point. They say they want to save lives, which is steaming pantload, but they’re not actually willing to do anything that inconveniences their own voters to make that happen.

Well, that was fun.
I don’t appreciate the gesture, Trump bargaining away the 2nd Amendment, but there is absolutely zero chance the Democrats will take him up on it unless they think they can cheat as they did with the Reagan Amnesty.
I guess this aimed at the LIVs who think Gun Control actually “does something” to show that the Democrats don’t really care about it.

they will agree, pass it, sign it, then 3, 2, 1, boom an Obama Federal judge strikes down the voter part (ignoring the obvious second ammendment Shall Not Be Infringed clause) and hold it up in the courts until Soros buys a Presidency to abolish it. Bets?

Silly. And needless to say, the Voter ID part would be thrown out by the courts in about 5 minutes, while the gun registration would be here to stay.

That’s a win win for Dems. Any new ID program will have enhanced capabilities for tracking and surveillance and it will probably be federal. Perfect for registration and confiscation and of course the ID and future registration will be seamlessly linked.

Really really stupid.

Square away first. Then offer to consider background checks.
After due consideration, reject.

“Universal Background Checks=Gun Registration. No thanks.”

If you purchased a firearm through a licensed gun dealer, your guns are already registered. Trust me on this, I know.

I’m all for voter ID cards. No card, no vote.

[[Nonetheless, I’m willing to compromise. I’m willing to give Democrats a crown jewel]]

And that is why we are losing our inalienable right to self defense- because people are’ willing to compromise’ - but just like the Israel, who keeps compromising, the enemy will NEVER EVER be satisfied and will keep demanding more and m ore and more-

We have over 30,000 gun laws on the books now that are slowly but surely erasing our inalienable right to self defense!- and every single one of those laws practically came to fruition because republicans were ‘willing to compromise’
