I think we’ll never know the level of threats DOJ, etc., were holding over Flynn regarding harm to his family. No different than how the mafia would operate. Most likely reason for Flynn’s failure to speak up and defend himself.

This is pure speculation without any evidence to support it.

And I'm not even talking about Flynn "speaking up" in a public way. I'm talking about Flynn actually fighting the charges in the first place instead of copping a plea deal over a non-existent crime.

“This is pure speculation without any evidence to support it.”

Did you not see the word, “think”, in my post? Everything everyone posits about Flynn at this point is “pure speculation”. EVERYTHING.

excellent points. Its been in a fascinating look at how American politics and its permanent DC bureaucracy and apparatchiks operate. Their schemes and machinations are seldom revealed like this.

I’ve said before that the DOJ is the political brain and nervous system of Fed.gov. A President must have an absolute loyalist in the job for protection - Kennedy appointed his own brother, Reagan had old friend Ed Meese, and Obama had fellow travelers Holden and Obama. He even made sure they were black for double loyalty.

Who did Trump have? Sessions. It nearly destroyed him.

“I think that is why Starr was picked for the Kabuki Theater of the impeachment trial: The UniParty knew they could trust him to keep it to “just sex” and so keep their man in office.”

I believe that as well. If you remember back to that time-period, China-gate was really beginning to take off. Charlie Trie, Maria Hsia and many others who were agents of the Chinese govt, were funneling millions of dollars to all aspects of the Clinton campaign and throughout the administration. At the time, it was an unprecedented level of foreign infiltration. People were outraged and demanded to know how the Chinese military had bought so much influence to the highest offices in the land.

Then, in 1997 (I think) a little known site known as the Drudge Report released a buried article about a Presidential affair with an intern and a blue-stained dress. The rest is history...we never heard about China-gate again. Starr was the perfect man for that job.

Judge Sullivan is obviously taking the Brady issues very seriously

If this were True, the Gubmint lawyers would have already been found in Contempt of Court, Jailed for 60 days and referred to the BAR Association for Permanent Disbarment.

It’s important to note, however, that a conviction is NOT necessarily and certainly not automatically reversed by the revelation of Brady evidence.

You are correct. It is up to the judge, based on the materials withheld.

FTA: Sullivan also noted during the hearing that the Brady order takes precedence over the plea agreement.

Based on the info above, I believe that the judge could overturn the plea agreement.

Agreed! My conspiracy theory (And a conspiracy theory isn’t good unless it’s likely) is that Sessions just sucked up to Trump but was a deep state mole from the beginning. His job was to undermine Trump at every turn and run interference for Brennan, Comey, etc. The fact that he did NOTHING while AG to help Trump is proof enough to me!

I'm talking about Flynn actually fighting the charges in the first place instead of copping a plea deal over a non-existent crime.

They were likely to go after him and his son for FARA violations concerning his business dealings with Turkey. Pleading guilty to misstatements about talking to the Russian ambassador added validity for the appointment of the special council and justification for trying to frame Trump for obstruction of justice.

Agree. One way or another, Flynn’s case will get there. The damage to him personally has been done, and that is appalling.

Brady is a court ruling that requires exculpatory materials to be turned over to the defense.

It should be done generally, however Judge Sullivan explicitly gave notice to the prosecution and its members when he took over the case.

That had not been done in the Stevens case, so that was a large part of why it wasn’t prosecutable. In this case, having done that, he can hold the prosecution in contempt.

His plea deal required cooperation. As I understand, there may have also been a gag order.

"Does anyone in the DOJ care that Paul Manafort was destroyed by illicit lawfare?"

If Paul Manafort had been a friend of Hillary's, then the DOJ would have turned their heads and looked away. That is a fact.
