Toymaker Hasbro is putting its own spin on the gender pay gap debate, on Tuesday announcing a new Monopoly game in which women players get more money than men.
When "Ms. Monopoly" hits shelves starting this week, she will be the first character other than "Rich Uncle Pennybags" the game's traditional mascot and described by Hasbro as Ms. Monopoly's uncle to appear on the cover of the iconic board game. In a news release, Hasbro said that "while Mr. Monopoly is a real-estate mogul, Ms. Monopoly is an advocate whose mission is to invest in female entrepreneurs."
Another big difference in the new game: Women earn more than men. Female players start out with 1,900 Monopoly dollars, while male players get 1,500 bucks. Women also collect more after passing "Go," earning 240 Monopoly dollars instead of the usual 200 Monopoly bucks.
The twist is intended to draw attention to the real-world disparity between what women and men are paid at work. Female employees typically earn 79 cents for every dollar that men earn.
But the toy manufacturer also noted that "if men play their cards right, they can make more money too." For example, a female player who gets one of the game's 16 "Community Chest" cards can collect 200 Monopoly dollars for publishing an article on successful women entrepreneurs, while a man can earn 250. Watching the newest superhero movie with a female lead will earn female players 50 Monopoly dollars and a male player 100.
Instead of scooping up real estate properties, players in the new board game can jockey for groundbreaking inventions and innovations made possible by women, including WiFi, chocolate chip cookies, bulletproof vests and solar heating, Hasbro said. Ms. Monopoly players can even zoom ahead on the board through rideshares.
Ms. Monopoly is available for pre-order starting Tuesday at Walmart and will be available at most major retailers nationwide. The board game will retail for $19.99.

Virtually no women in my CS courses when I was young. My son says it's the same today.
Seems like a joke game.
Starting with an inherent imbalance would make the game less fun - unless the challenge is to win anyways.
Because you just see oodles of women line walking power lines during Maine blizzards, or welding steel beams on bridges or buildings in phoenix in July. You see gaggles of women singularly focused on creating technology in some dark lab all hours to the exclusion of all else, or tinkering in the garage. Women just flood non sexy jobs like sewer workers, or plumbers, or any of the other labor intensive, or outdoor, or otherwise uncomfortable jobs that people take for granted but are necessary to keep cities and civilizations operating. They cant get enough of breathing dangerous dust or gasses in coal mines. Yup, no difference at all
At this point, I think their market for new games is collectors.

In real life, women are paid more than men for the same work.
NO employer wants to risk a woman being able to make even a plausible case for being paid less.
If I ever play this game, I’m going to “identify” as a woman.
In 6 months you won’t hear a thing more about this lame sjw game. Nobody will buy it. The next time you’ll hear about it it will be in 20 years or so when it comes up as a trivia question.
