Trump administration readies ban on flavored e-cigarettes amid outbreak of vaping-related deaths

The Trump administration is preparing to ban flavored e-cigarettes as federal health officials call for restrictions to combat an outbreak of a mysterious lung disease that has sickened hundreds and killed at least six people, U.S. health secretary Alex Azar told reporters Wednesday. The Food and Drug Administration is finalizing its guidance to remove e-cigarette flavors other than tobacco from the market because children are attracted to other flavors, Azar said, following a meeting at the Oval Office with President Donald Trump. It could take the FDA several weeks to develop the guidelines, he said. The administration will also take enforcement action if it finds e-cigarette makers are intentionally targeting children, Azar said.

An old recipe. Government tries to regulate industry. Industry resists. “OMG, your product is KILLING people!” Industry now more compliant.

Perfect propaganda campaign: let's grossly exaggerate the numbers and go straight for a ban without even investigating the causes.

They just want people to smoke, to collect the taxes.

Guess stores will be selling juice + flavoring separately just like they do juice + nicotine to escape taxes.

Trump is a Populist and not really a Conservative.
His eagerness to use BigGov to react to such things (bump stocks, background checks) confirms this.

Conservatives have unfortunately sullied their brand by sticking with Free Trade Uber Ales for three decades. There are no longer enough voters onboard for them to win elections.

This does NOT prevent illness due to vaping!

The PROBLEM is the 'home grown' production of vaping ingredients!

So..
The kids will just vape Tobacco flavored and make their transition INTO cigarettes that much easier!

And kill off thousands of profitable business and employees in the process.

great move!

Such a ban has been in the works for a long time now.

The FDA was moving slowly to allow the public to get used to the idea, but it was coming regardless.

If cloning humans for body parts is freedom, I don’t want it. But I want to be able to sell potentially harmful crap to unsuspecting victims. There is a reason for government, and a reason for opposing too much of it. It’s a necessary evil.

EXCELLENT!

Most smoking adults are former teenagers who couldn’t shake the addiction.

Probably, but the government has a tendency to want to “do something” about a problem, even if it in ineffective.

There is no outbreak of death.
Vaping has been around since 2001, and a handful of people largely adding drugs to the mix have died.
