Make No Mistake: The GOP is Losing Texas: 5 Congressmen Have Resigned Instead of Seeking Re-election
American Thinker ^ | 09/13/2019 | Joshua Foxworth

To date, five congressmen from Texas have resigned instead of seeking re-election in 2020. Their resignations signal two things from GOP leadership. The first is the realization that Texas is now lost. The second is that this loss is due entirely to the changing demographics resulting from legal and illegal immigration.

The five congressmen that have resigned are Bill Flores (17th), Will Hurd (23rd), Pete Olson (22nd), Kenny Marchant (24th), and Mike Conaway (11th). Of these five, Congressman Conaway is unique in that his district will likely remain red for some time. He has not faced an opponent in numerous election cycles.

Congressman Hurd’s district 23 has always been very competitive with the victors winning the general elections by an average of about 1% in the last three elections. The district follows the border with Mexico, and it is a bit surprising that Republicans have been able to get elected at all considering it is 24% white and 69% Hispanic.

In 2012 and 2016, the Republican in district 23 was able to outspend opponents by a margin of 2 to 1. In 2018, the Democrats actually outspent the Republicans in that district by a slight margin of 6 to 5. The fact that the Republican was the incumbent was likely the sole deciding factor in the Republican victory. With that same Democratic candidate already raising close to $600,000 for 2020, the GOP leadership saw this district as not worth the $5 million they spent in 2018. District 23 is now permanently blue.

Districts 17, 22, and 24 follow the pattern already seen in district 23. With massive numbers of legal and illegal migrants, the demographics of those districts has caused a gradual and undeniable shift from Republican to Democrat.

It’s not Hispanics alone. A friend has a multi million dollar commercial real estate business headquartered in LA. He investigated moving to Texas. His effort found massive influx of Left Coasters moving to Texas. His own circles in SoCal showed the same. But too many of the people leaving that he actually knew were zealous Dems. As a result he decided to move his HQ to Tennessee. In his opinion in ten years Texas would be Cali.

The way CWII may start:

A Democrat is elected President at some point—and opens the border to illegal invaders.

Texas responds by defending the southern border by military force—and eventually has to defend its _entire_ border (north, south, east, and west) by military force.

It doesn’t matter that Texas has a photo ID law and must actually PROVE they are eligible…

Voter ID laws are just gun laws, and all laws in the respect that there are people who want to violate them, and they WILL violate them if given the chance.

Are you personally willing to go and volunteer to confront voters in blue districts in Texas to verify they are all eligible? And what would actually be your ability to verify any documents presented to you?

You may be willing to blindly trust that all will be ok, and insult those who are concerned, but not me, not after we saw the results of all those supposed recounts LAST election.

Leveraging the anti trump and anti Cruz hate that had their base motivated and a lot of outside money they got close in an off year election...

While individual districts will swing TX isn’t blue yet... however if they don’t get their voting percentages up the Dems will get a statewide win sooner or later. Lot of complacency down there.

Yep, people try to blame it solely on Californians....but that lets off illegals and generations of natives that have been brainwashed by schools and the media.

Well, maybe it’s time for Texans...and other conservatives....to put a call in to the Texas GOP and ask what the game plan is, to keep Texas red....especially with these five retirements, and the previously solid red counties going Dem, in 2018.

The rest are Bush League Republicans hell bent on turning the USA in to North Mexico, good riddance.

I think you've nailed it. The RINOs are retiring and that is something good and necessary, particularly if they are being replaced with Trump-style non-globalist Republicans.

It’s only a matter of time. The GOP is dead as a major political party.

Yes, Texas is in trouble (and by extension, the entire country). There are a lot of conservatives and (R)'s in general out there that need to wake up to this reality.

Some facts to consider, in no particular order:

1. FY 2019 (* as of 03/05/2019) | FY 2018 | FY 2017

Texas apprehensions FY 2019 - 181,079
Texas apprehensions FY 2018 - 250,342
Texas apprehensions FY 2017 - 207,693

California apprehensions FY 2018 - 39,115
California apprehensions FY 2018 - 67,821
California apprehensions FY 2017 - 44,719

2. A big reason why the numbers are so much higher in Texas and not in California? Most of CA's border with Mexico has some sort of barrier along the way. Texas? Virtually the entire border with Mexico is wide open.
https://www.usatoday.com/border-wall/us-mexico-interactive-border-map/

3. Regarding historical political party strength, Texas has elected more Democrats at both the state and national level, than California has. Texas could go back to being blue.

4. CA and NY actualy had a net decrease on foreign nationals here illegally from 2010 to 2015.
The hot new places for illegal aliens to invade is Texas, Florida and Virginia!

5. Hispanics overwhelmingly vote Democrat.

“Are you personally willing to go and volunteer to confront voters in blue districts in Texas to verify they are all eligible? And what would actually be your ability to verify any documents presented to you?”

I live in SC. If I lived in Texas then the answer is YES!!
Texas has a procedure in place and if I am checking the ID and if I have suspicion I would make it known to whomever is in charge and assume that voter would need to satisfy him/her or else vote with a provisional ballot.

If we become afraid to call out vote thieves then what the hell is the point of having elections?

Voter ID are NOT like gun laws. You can’t go to a “vote” show and “buy” a vote and you can’t meet a guy named Luigi or Santana behind a garage and “buy” a vote.

People do cheat and the way to stop it is to catch them and have a very public trial and hand down maximum penalties. People are far less likely to commit any crime at all when they know people are specifically looking for that crime.

No one is losing Texas in 2020. We will likely pick up congressional seats and the State stay deep Red.
