How about reinstating the second amendment in full?
Adhere to the constitution?
How about that?

I see 6 heavily armed thugs in that picture coming after my guns. To paraphrase a line from Jaws. “I think we need a bigger magazine”.

I fully expect at some point that all FReepers will be on a list for "Red Flag" confiscation.

Fine by me and again, I could care less. I'll defend myself from anyone coming into my home looking to take my property.

“We’ve spent four years reading one false story after another about Donald Trump. Why don’t we actually wait to hear it from the lips of the president himself before we all start “flipping” out?”

Because if we wait it will be too late when it’s announced. This should be obvious but evidently it’s not. If you support the President and want to see him reelected you better support shouting from the rooftops NO GUN CONTROL. No background checks, no bans of anything.

If the President comes out and says he wants more background checks, he’s done. He won’t be reelected. It does not matter how bad the dems alternative is. The fact is 2-3 million people will stay home and we will have a democrat president. Take that to the bank.

“Since then, Mr. Trump has called mass shootings a mental health issue and criticized what he sees as overzealous Democrats.”

Ban Democrats. That would solve a whole host of problems!

Seriously? It IS a Mental Health issue. THAT is the Elephant in the room!

Our boys being DRUGGED into submission because they have no FATHERS and Parents, Teachers and Social Workers no longer able to lock up the NUTS to protect the rest of us FROM them.

Also, Ban Islam.

Can’t hurt. Might help.

I hate to be an ass, as so many on this site sometimes are, but that is about as weak an argument as one could give. As somoen that was, at one time, on the street dealing with convicted felons with guns, that’s laughable.

Yes, they get them. They get stolen guns or guns that were purchased and sold somewhere else. I’m fully aware. But, there isn’t any reason that they should be allowed to go into the same gun store as you and me and purchase the same gun.

They are talking about private sales. This will create a 100 percent registry. Wake up, its about registration.

What I fear most is mental health restrictions. It wouldn't be long before political enemies would be decreed too crazy to own a gun. Add to that, imagine the possibility that search warrants for your home could happen if you were reported for suspicion of owning a gun.

I can't believe President Trump doesn't understand why this "future crime" scenario would be very, very dangerous.

The nut on the Dem stage who said they'd go into your house and grab your gun probably did us all a favor. It's pretty obvious that the remnants of our freedom and privacy are under assault. (and I'm not pro-gun personally, but support the 2nd Amendment or any part of the Cnnstitution not being violated)

I’m in 100% agreement with you. Rather than try to “strengthen” anything, they should look at where the deficiencies are in the current system. One of the shooters, should have been prohibited but the Air Force, I believe, never sent the information about him. Would that, 100%, prevented what he did? No one can know that.

But, like damn near everything the Feds do, instead of looking at what is working(pretty much nothing) and what is not and trying to figure out a way to make things more reliable and efficient, they enact new BS so the sheep will think they’re doing something.

The bumpstock ban was nothing but a “feel good” ruling. Banning them didn’t affect my right to own, carry, and shoot any firearm, therefore, I don’t consider it an infringement. Merely banning an accessory.

“I am, yes. If they’ve done their debt to society, YES, they should be able to be armed.”

You would think this should be obvious. Good grief, can’t anyone think anymore?

Beto O’Rourke seriously hurt the Democrat party with that little parody he did of the gubmint coming to get our guns.

I would also remind several posters on this thread that President Trump has been mentioning that he is working on gun issues for the better part of a week.

So those of us made nervous by this are not nuts.

Do not misunderstand. I don’t think that Trump would do anything major with gun control. It would hurt him terribly in 2020.

But I’m a bit nervous.

And that was a rule change. Not legislation. Easier to overturn in a court -which is where it is right now.

Should committing a crime prevent you from defending yourself in the future?

I think not

I certainly hope this is just BS. Gun control is one of the few areas where any “compromise” with the Left would totally kill his 2020 chances.

“JMHO, but Trump’s bumpstock ban was just a feint.”

Convince over a half a million people who own them who are now in posession of an unregistered machine gun or the had to turn in private property without compensation. This ban may have already lost the election for the President. At least a half a million are going to stay home 2020. Those half million helped make him president in 2016.

So, you’re ok with a convicted felon being able to buy a gun?

Yes.

The classification of "felon" has been grotesquely expanded to include way too many conditions and activities, many of which should not be considered crimes in the first place.

It has been said of our incomprehensible maze of laws and regulations, "Everybody commits three felonies a day". It has also been said "Show me the man and I will show you the crime". These rather cynical observations have a bitter ring of truth, and apply to you and me.

I am unwilling to deny other people access to weapons based solely upon the misleading indicators available from our current legal system.

Persons committing violent actions against other persons should be in prison, where presumably, they will not have access to firearms. And if they are considered too dangerous to have weapons after they have been released - maybe they should not be released.

Or we could limit the classification of "felony" to crimes in which specific persons are physically harmed, which is the common-sense definition that people believe the word "felony" means.
