I still use them sparingly when I go to the dentist for a root canal, or other seriously painful procedure.
I guess like alcohol addiction or gambling addiction, some of us aren't wired for drug addiction - I only use them (sometimes half dose) when I really need them.

Most people aren’t- to opioids anyways- the vast majority, over 98%, take them as prescribed, for the length of time prescribed, then come off them no worries-
Some people are just more likely to become addicted to drugs than others.
Why is it some people can have a alcoholic drink with dinner and then stop. Others can not.
These same type of people can not just have one line of cocaine or one hit of heroin.
Nicotine, Cocaine, Oxycontin and heroin are the most addictive drugs that have ever been created. Roughly 1/3 of the people that try Oxycontin or heroin will become addicted.
This is a higher percentage than any other form of drugs.
I know two people who were in car accidents and were given Oxycontin prescriptions for neck pain. They both became addicted. It was really hard for both of them to get off the drug. These people are not junkies. They never willingly stuck a needle in their arm. They were prescribed this medicine by their doctor.
