Running for the nomination is fun and profitable.
Running against Trump will just get them Mondaled.

Either a latecomer jumps in and nabs the nomination before anyone can vet, or we end up with a nobody who doesn’t want to run and will get destroyed.
Best indication the Democrats expect to lose is they’re not running anybody.

Vehicle manufactures and businesses have certainly talked about what is the best delivery vehicle. Businesses, who look seriously at fuel and maintenance costs must not be interested in electric versions since there aren’t any to be bought.
If electric vehicles are inferior in the delivery vehicle market then they must be even more inferior in the consumer market where driving patterns aren’t predictable.

Joe Biden gave his best debate performance to date, which is a bit like celebrating your kid getting on base because he was hit by a pitch but otherwise went 0-for-4. It’s amazing how low the bar can be set for a former Vice President of the United States. Not that the job requires any abilities, which made Biden perhaps the most qualified person to have ever held it. His dentures nearly fell out, he lectured on the importance of playing records for kids, and rambled off-topic a couple of times. For him, aces!

Probably one of the few D senators who was smart enough not to sign up for the clown car debates. I'm sure a bunch of them are salivating. I have two from my state (VA) who pretend to be moderate (but are clearly not).
He would’ve been chosen as Hillary Clinton’s running mate in 2016 because he’s Hispanic, but he couldn’t speak Spanish well enough so she went with a white guy who could.

I read this sentence then tried to remember who was a running mate to cankles and I couldn’t for the life of me remember it. I was beginning to fear early onset Alzheimer’s until I googled it and realized I can be forgiven for forgetting such a forgettable non-entity.

Politicians by nature love attention, love to have their name in the news, people talking about them. When they say the craziest,insane things, insult POTUS, etc, - they get attention. As the old politician once said to his local paper’s editor, who had published a scathing article about him - “I don’t care what you write about me, just keep my picture on the front page.”
Most of these demokraps know they are primary losers. Nonetheless, the benefits are many - including stature in the party, ability to fund raise at a larger scale, possible position in the next demokrap cabinet, or POTUS nomination in the future. All these things feed the politician’s ego.
Recall how many elections Colin Powell was always talked about as the GOP “stature candidate in the wings”. For your scenario, the only leftist “stature” candidate I can think of at the moment is John Kerry. Enough is known about him, but there are many voters today who weren’t there in 2004. And, the major media has been outed in the last 4 years; they would work triple overtime to cover for him. But no one is talking about someone like Kerry b/c “red eye, loose lips, loose teeth” Biden is in the race. Unless old Red Eye drops out before then end of 2019, there is no chance for a stature candidate.
Your theory is an interesting one though, but given the calendar, I think it will be one of the demokraps that are on the stage that the media/party will select for their party. In politics, never say never.

... need lithium batteries today. Lithium batteries need cobalt. Over 60% of the cobalt in the world is in the Congo. The Chinese have strong control in COngo over this strategic material. There are blatant human rights abuses in the Congo (China doesn’t care) related to Cobalt and other minerals necessary for the techno world. Amnesty International is on to this, Apple, auto makers, et al. But overall the left is silent on these abuses because their environmental agenda would be seriously impacted. Compare Congo to how the left went after mineral rich South Africa years ago in the name of human rights.
Each of these candidates should be asked specifically about whether human rights for poor Africans are secondary to their climate change hoax / power grab.
If some way isn’t found to reach young people and break the spell that socialism is holding over them, the country.
