I’m pretty sure you are wrong. If you encourage someone to lie under oath, you are suborning perjury. If you threaten to someone to lie under oath, it is witness and intimidation as well as suborning perjury.

If you casually tell me you are facing trial and you are confident of proving yourself innocent but there is one factor if they question you could cause problems; and I say to just not tell the truth, that is hardly suborning perjury. It is just being a bonehead giving bad advice.
