There is another reason why the left is desperate for impeachment that nobody is talking about.

One of the penalties for conviction is the option to bar the person from ever running for elective office again.

Alcee Hastings was impeached and convicted as a federal judge, but he was not prevented from running again. He ran for Congress and won.

The left is rabid for impeachment because they want to ensure not just that President Trump is removed from office (even by the ballot box), but that he can never run again.

Only conviction of impeachment, with the bar on future office, will satisfy the left.
