This is rare. I’ve witnessed people change their minds and no one contested it. Right in front of me.

No one got angry, no one pressured anyone.

The people in the hospital will tell you when it’s time and they will tell you how long you can wait before the organs are not viable.

I respect patient’s views on this. Do it, or don’t do it. That’s up to you. Honestly, the hospital staff doesn’t care one way or the other.

Presenting all medical staff as ghouls who simply want to cut you up is not accurate and infantile. So, basing your opinion on bullshit internet stories is just not an accurate description of the process and the people.

The ONLY thing I would say is put this stuff in writing; attach it to your health care proxy; and define the terms. And if your family member wants to do this, don’t insert your religious or ignorance into the equation during a hyper emotional time.

thank you. I can also tell you doctors and hospital staff make NO money off organ donation and usually we have to call the chaplain in to be with the staff as it is traumatic for them as well. These are usually heart wrenching situations.
