I have always thought a hallmark of Leftism has to be the corrosive effect of long-term subjection to cognitive dissonance, which means they have to believe in things that experience tells them are not true. So like Orwell's subjects in 1984 who must learn "Doublethink" and suffer the effects of having to do it, Leftists must experience the same unhealthy effects on the mind.
This picture looks like the physical expression of that.
