Much of impeachment inquiry may be conducted in secret
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/02/19 | Susan Ferrechio

“Impeachment will uncover the truth,” House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, tweeted Tuesday.

But a decision by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to hand off the impeachment inquiry to the Intelligence Committee means key parts of the inquiry will be kept secret.

The House Intelligence Committee, led by Chairman Adam Schiff, is scheduled on Friday to interview Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael K. Atkinson.

Atkinson is one of the most important witnesses in the impeachment inquiry. He conducted the initial review into a whistleblower allegation that President Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden and that the White House attempted to conceal records of the July 25 call.

But the public won’t get to see Atkinson testify because the Intelligence Committee will hold Friday’s hearing behind closed doors.

“It may take more than voting this time.”

Really...at this point the only solution to the disaster that has been made of American politics by the Left is a military one.

And the Senate damn well better vote!

I’m talking to you, Linda and Turtle!

Have an instant vote, just to piss off Kammel Hairass and Fineswine.

They’re seriously bending rules and traditions to get their way, why shouldn’t we?

Re: DNI Ratcliffe would like a word with you. Also, Fed governors Herman Cain and Stephen Moore say hi.

A little too subtle to make any meaningful point.

If I recall correctly, Ratcliffe rarely attended his House Intelligence Committee meetings and his GOP colleagues were shocked that Trump even considered him for the job.

Cain was a CEO, as I recall, but had no special skills in finance or economics.

Moore might have been qualified, but he was also an Open Borders Libertarian who supports massive immigration.

In any event, as to Inspector Generals, Trump has always had the option to fire every executive in every appointed office.

If the Senate rejects his nominations, so what? Just nominate someone else.

If an IG office needs an executive decision, make an appointment with Trump, and Trump can make the decision.

If the IG offices are paralyzed by the absence of on site leadership, so what? Just tell them to cool their heels until the Senate confirms someone.

Instead, Trump nominates a guy who is now trying to impeach him!

Military counter coup. Trump declares martial law. Schiff and the rest go to prison for life.

Like it.

Why? Because most of what “evidence” they have is bullshit.

Secret evidence in a secret meeting then a secret vote to impeach Trump. Sounds on the up and up to me. /sarc

Wow. Have you considered running for President? You sure seem to know President Trump’s job inside and out.

Romney sunk Ratcliffe gone and you are supportive that? That won’t make you popular here.

The GOP Senate publicly threatened POTUS not to fire Sessions. He clearly does not have a free hand to fulfill his elected office and has little of the executive branch is under his control.

Honestly, when I read drivel like this I think we don’t deserve POTUS. He fights the Deep State for us only to get nitpicked to death for his every decision. Good day.

I don’t think it’d go to a committee....

Maybe just as well, considering what kind of citters in both parties dwell in the senate intel committee.... which had no problem with Russiagate.

Secret trials, unknown ‘witnesses’.

Shouldn’t they vote to impeach first?

No no no.

Sentence first, then the trial.
