I don’t recall their condemnation of Adam Schiff-for-brains lying about the contents of the President’s conversation or the collusion with the whistle blower.

No it is always pile on Trump

And us. The American people elected Trump

We wanted him and we still do. We voted out corruption and I for one am no longer amused by these people

Now they are going after the democrat senators who are listed as republicans as expected.

They are looking for ‘votes’ in the senate for impeachment

For the sole purpose of keeping the truth and the details of corruption covered up

“Can you explain this Angus King guy?”
________________________________________

Sure. I’m not originally from Maine, having lived in southern California for many years and growing up on Long Island, NY. But I’ve lived here in Maine a long time.

Angus King ran for governor in 1994 as an “Independent.” The dem candidate was Joe Brennan, a politician from southern Maine who was a perennial candidate....always running for one office or another in Maine.

The GOP’s pick for governor that year was a newcomer to the political scene; the president of Husson College in Bangor (now Husson University)....Susan Collins. Yes, THAT Susan Collins.

King ran an optimistic campaign. I voted for him, too, and he won.

Prior to 1993, King was a democrat, and he started acting like one part way through his first term. In 1998, I voted for the Republican candidate. King won again.

After his second term, King became a private citizen and made a fortune building those ugly windmills.

In 2012, Angus King got elected to the U.S. Senate as an “Independent,” beating the Republican candidate and the democrat. Many democrats voted for King instead of the “official” demorcrat candidate.

One of the reasons Angus King got elected to the Senate is because of name recognition, which he had in spades because of his two terms as governor.

Meanwhile, I see nothing independent in regards to Angus King. My definition of a true “independent” would be a senator who sides with the democrats on some issues and with the Republicans on other issues, and does what’s good for the country (which means he should rarely, if ever, side with the democrats).

Angus King is always on the democrat side of the aisle with his policies and votes.

In 2018, 30 year old state senator Eric Brakey challenged King for the U.S. Senate seat held by King. Brakey had little money and not as much name recognition as King, so King won.

Meanwhile, Eric Brakey is the guy who got Constitutional Carry passed in Maine in 2015. Brakey recently announced his plans to run as the GOP candidate next year in Maine’s Second Congressional District.

Thank you for the summary,
In your view would it be harder to dislodge
Collins or King?

“In your view would it be harder to dislodge Collins or King?”
________________________________________________________

They would both be difficult to dislodge,

Angus King was re-elected in 2018 easily. He isn’t up again until 2024.

King was challenged by Eric Brakey, then a 30-year old former state senator. Angus King had boatloads more money and huge name recognition, as a former two-term governor (elected in 1994 and 1998) and as an incumbent first term U.S. Senator.

Eric Brakey is very knowledgeable on firearms and Second amendment issues. As a state senator, he successfully introduced a bill making Maine a Constitutional Carry state.
Brakey also played a major role in defeating anti-gun bills in the last legislative session. Brakey is currently running for the House of Representatives for Maine’s Second Congressional District in November 2020.

Angus King had a bout with prostate cancer not that long ago, but as far as I know, he is cancer-free.

As for Susan Collins, she is up for re-election in November 2020. Her support for Kavanaugh has infuriated all the left-wing special interest groups, and they are already running anti-Collins ads, funded with money from out-of-state.

The ads feature angry women saying that they supported Collins in the past, but not anymore, blah blah blah. These ads feature unflattering images of Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearings.

I know Collins leaves a lot to be desired in regards to conservatism, but she did vote for the Trump tax cuts, she voted for Neil Gorsuch for the High Court, and she gave an impassioned speech saying she was a “yes” vote for Brett Kavanaugh. Collins also supported the vast majority of the president’s many choices for the federal judiciary. A democrat would have been a “no” vote on all of these.

Someone was going to primary Susan Collins, but the president asked the potential challenger to not do so, and that person agreed to back off.

The democrats usually run some obscure left-wing female state senator against Collins, and Collins ends up looking good in comparison and wins by a sizeable margin.

This time, Collins may get more of a challenge from the left because they are still pissed off about her vote for Kavanaugh, who these lefties would literally crucify if they had the chance.
