The president's comments came days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, announced a formal impeachment probe into his attempt to solicit foreign help in an election, which is illegal and considered by many lawmakers to be a foundational threat to democracy.

Sen. Collins reiterated that she would not offer comment on the evidence, saying that not all of it is in yet, and that she hopes the impeachment process "will be done with the seriousness that any impeachment proceeding deserves."

Trump did not ask China to get involved. He said he hoped they would, and I suspect many people hope the same thing, given the sweetheart deal that looks stinky.

Collins is suggesting that Biden is above the law because he is running for office. This is understandable coming from the privileged class.

The author of the article asserts as fact, falsehoods. Trump did not "solicit foreign help in an election." Also, much of "soliciting help," for example seeking information, is NOT ILLEGAL. This will be clear once the fact the DEMs did it is out. Suddenly the conduct will be "not a crime."

As for the impeachment process, what's with the "hope" thing. I'd hope the House was serious too, but it is obviously not a serious body. Not taking a vote, reading criminal conduct into a president interested in rooting out corruption (that is, always finding the worst construction).

Her Kavanaugh shine was a political stunt. She took heat for it, and is making amends. She is not principled.

I can tell you from personal experince, she doesn't care what her constituents think.

Accepting the democrat spin that Trump making a remark intended to point out the Biden is corrupted by China too (by saying in an ad-hoc press conference maybe China ought to be investigating his lawbreaking, not actually said to China) should be enough evidence of incompetence to disqualify her from public office.
