With Congress on a two-week break, Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff kept his members in town last week, to take testimony, collect evidence, and keep the cable-news chyrons spinning in his favor. It all served as a reminder of how fast Democratic leaders want this impeachment probe to go.
"We're not fooling around here," Schiff told reporters. "We don't want this to drag on for months and months, which appears to be the administration's strategy."
The goal, Democrats say, is to vote by the Iowa caucuses, if not before Thanksgiving. But the short timeline is yet another example of the party’s anxiety around the politics of impeachment. Go too fast and force on-the-fence moderates to vote with less evidence. Go too slow and risk muddling the party's election-year messaging.
With 2020 fast approaching, the go-fast gang appears to be winning out.
“There’s a desire to finish as fast as possible – there’s no question about that,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), a member of both the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, told reporters this week. “My sense of it is, obviously, it gets much more difficult when you get into the primary season. ... because then it would be easy for Trump and the Republicans to just say that this is a political effort.”

Timing and optics. That's all it is. Trump wins again, Republicans retain the Senate and win back the House. Gird everything you've got after that happens.

Impeach him for what? What’s the charges?! The reason this is running ragged on them (and why AoC of all people may have played the smart one here) is because they’re feigning impeachment as a coup but have no high crimes to impeach on!!
You can argue that Clinton’s impeachment was a sting operation but it was and is a very real crime.
But Trump has committed no crime and the Democrats have now shown that they will destroy the country to get power.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - the Democrat party is a real and present danger to the Republic and must be dissolved.
(With AoC being “over” impeachment I can’t help but wonder if she didn’t rope a dope Pelosi - or if she sees all this as a smoke screen to defend Biden’s corruption)
They're going to accuse Trump of not turning over his stool sample on time then blame him for dragging it out for months.

For Dems it used to be that: the seriousness of the charge was evidence of guilt; now, they changed that to: the seriousness of the verdict is evidence of a crime.
I say, have the impeachment trial next summer. Let the House vote to impeach in July, the Senate acquit in August, and begin campaigning by Labor Day.
I used to think it unfair to say of California that it is "the land of Fruits and Nuts" but they keep sending people like Karen Bass, Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff to Congress ( Maxine Waters is in a class of her own). This Ukranian fiasco is the last straw. Not political...sure.
Good points...if the RATs open a formal impeachment the Republucans will have subpoena power.
I would like for People to look at what I write hear. With all of these political elitists wanting President Trump Impeached. As for what to do about it. Just let them continue their rhetoric as they are their own worst enemy. There words are sick, demented and perverted to the point of showing how much they want to destroy our Constitutional Republic with their rampart insanity. They want Impeachment, Imprisonment, and Solitary Confinement for the President. This is the dementia of the Democratic Elitists and their allies. It is now to the point where many are leaving the Democratic Party because of their insane push on Impeachment Because Trump isn’t one of them.
Well, there is a helluva lot of "tugging" going on over in Democrat-land.
Schiff, along with many of his fellow travelers, are enemy of America. Thought exercise: What form of execution will cause his eyes to pop out beyond where they already have.
Trump will definitely drag this out until after the Barr/Durham investigation results are released. The timetable will work out perfectly for the president.
