With one proclamation signed late Friday evening last week, President Donald Trump made his adviser Stephen Millers dreams of restricting legal immigration a reality.
When it goes into effect November 3, the proclamation will make getting into the US much harder for immigrants sponsored by family members, the phenomenon Trump has excoriated as chain migration. It will throw up a barrier to those coming through the diversity visa lottery the subject of Trumps shithole countries rant which allows the US to accept 55,000 immigrants annually from countries with historically low levels of immigration.
Researchers estimate it could keep up to two-thirds of future immigrants out who would be admitted under current law.
Under the proclamation, immigrants who do not have health insurance and cannot afford to pay medical care costs will not be able to move to the US permanently.
The move could bar roughly 375,000 immigrants annually, based on projections of data from fiscal year 2017, according to Julia Gelatt, a senior policy analyst at the Migration Policy Institute.

And long before some Obama judge does this?
Now, PREPARE YOURSELVES at the White House, for some Obama appointed judge to try putting this law on hold.
Don’t act all surprised and flummoxed when it happens.
We all know the Dems are shopping around for a crooked/Activist judge right now.
Sounds good. Too d many Muslim invaders barging and sneaking in illegally. End this too and lets start repatriations, deporting them ASAP!!
While the MSM and Congress are focused on impeachment Trump should do more of this stuff.
Thank God for President Trump.
he just announced a partial china deal. market liked it but now has decided it doesnt like it. we will see where it ends. could take 5 weeks to get the deal in writing
On appeal the Trump administration usually comes out on top because they are actually following the law, something which hasn’t been the case for 30 years through the previous FOUR administrations, 2 of each party.
Trump is simply amazing. Republicans are disgusting traitors too. He has his work cut out for him.
Thank God for Pres. Trump. I can’t say that enough ! ! !
Last night’s rally was truly breathtaking! It was the best so far and I watch EVERY one.
but Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell didn’t.
They wouldn’t because it goes against their life’s work of open borders.
Democrats want to bankrupt the country because desperate people - not just the greedy - will lean in to communism.
My feeling is if democrats want to live in a commie hellhole they can move to North Korea.
Thanks for pointing out that difference.
An executive order. We as a country will enjoy it while it lasts, then.
The “legal immigration” laws, as they now stand, have become a hodgepodge and a joke. The “lottery” system of choosing those eligible to immigrate with an eye to gaining citizenship, without regard to their fitness to become a citizen and/or pay their own way, was a mistake from the start. Merit, as a criteria, was simply thrown out the window.
Sure, the quota assigned to each country based on past immigration patterns was unjust, but it was at least predictable, and all the applicants were vetted pretty well by the time they arrived. But it was not necessarily tied to that other atrocity, chain migration, that permitted some pretty loosely related family members to enter the country.
Now end the H-1B visa and we will really be cooking!
“from countries with historically low levels of immigration”
That’s cuz they weren’t us, and we ain’t them.
And for them to say they is us is a joke.
Well they are at war with us. They have standing declarations of war, genocide, and global enslavement. We should treat them appropriately!
