"Coupon clipping" was for bonds, not stocks. You would clip off a coupon every half year and mail it in to claim the interest. New issues of bearer bonds were largely eliminated back in the 80s to prevent tax evasion.
But Slow Joe can't figure out the difference between bonds and stocks and brings up stories long out of date. Maybe he can bring up the urgent problem of people breaking their arms crank starting cars.
