I was a city/state/federal LEO for nearly 3 decades & (while I’m NOT an attorney,) I know that being GUILTY of a crime REQUIRES a “criminal intent” to commit a particular crime.
(ONLY DWI & DUID, in the USA, are “General Intent” offenses.)

This case was a GROSS miscarriage of justice, as the young sailor had NO intent to commit a crime.
(President Trump SHOULD pardon him & “restore him to USN duty”, ImVho.)

That’s the new standard, at least for Democrats. But imagine if any Republican or someone in the Trump administration did this. There would be outcries of risks to national security and calls for punishment.

Corruption and destructive partisanship are deeply embedded in our government. The people will have an opportunity to vote to remove it in 2020.
