Obama stole her thunder in 08 and made her largely irrelevant for 8 years. In those years the Clinton faction was relegated to the backwaters. All Hillary could do was sell her influence for money for another run.
By 2016 she had bought the DNC and assured her nomination but that real estate guy from NYC ate her lunch and showed her the door.
The Clintons have no prestige, no power and probably little money.
