A growing number of Senate Democrats say Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) should be more explicit about how she plans to pay for her Medicare for All plan.
They say the transparency will be rewarded, and that Warren is taking a risk by not being more open about the costs of Medicare for All.
There are pluses and minuses to Medicare for All. You have to be direct about the fact that there are certain consequences of it that will affect people differently. The more you can be transparent about it, I think its important, said Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), who has not endorsed a candidate for president.
Cardin acknowledged that taxes are sort of a toxic word but argued that Warren and other candidates who back Medicare for All would be doing themselves a favor by leveling with voters.
I think you have to be transparent. I think the more you try to be cute, the more it hurts you with voters, he said, noting that Warrens rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who admits that taxes on the middle class will go up, is much more direct on this.

Now that Biden has shot himself in the food multiple times and is effectively out of the race, Warren, the presumptive nominee is now under pressure to explain how 'medicare for all' is going to work.
Democrats are now in a bind.
With their front runner talking about 'medicare for all' someone has to explain how we're going to pay for it.
Costs? Sheesh...come on man, “just pay for it.”
Right?
Why dont they pay for it by having the fed print money. That is basically what they do for everything else
What is the cost for Medicare for illegals?
I think the dems should be honest and say that the doctors and nurses will work for free as well as the teachers should provide free education. s/o
Martha McCallum stated on Tucker last week that even if the dems took EVERY penny from anyone making $2000,000 and over a year it would not be enough to pay for Medicare for all. And that includes no money for anything else (like military education welfare)
Elizabeth Warren constantly says that “costs” for those in high income brackets will go up, while “costs” for those in middle class income brackets will go down.
She uses a word “costs” which apparently was tested in focus groups, rather than “taxes”.
She refuses to talk about “taxes” needed to pay for her pie in the sky schemes.

No problemo. Just take every penny from anyone making over $100,000 a year. But exempt all politicians, just because. (Why do I always have to think of everything?)
Medicare itself has been printing or borrowing money since 1986.
If you ever want another actual Federal budget, then Republicans, who have had a corrupt tax policy for decades, will have to tell the truth and raise taxes to pay for the things they already support or take away things the people simply will not give up.
Medicare For All (Illegals)
BUT NOT GRANDMA
Heh.
Don’t ask me to pay for what other people refuse to give up.
She won’t talk about how to pay for it because it is impossible to do so - the cost exceeds the total US tax receipts.
Yet they let her blather on...
I see they want her to explain how to pay for a program they all say they are in favor of. Got it.
Warren doesn’t want to tell Northeastern and Western public employee Democrats that they might have to pay like average elderly people for health care.
There are sick NYC public employees that will not pay even one cent in premiums, co-pays or deductibles in 2019.
OK but that wasn't exactly my point.
My point is, we are f***ed if the Congress enacts programs but not the revenue to pay for them.
When Medicare went tits up in 1986, Reagan, Tip O'Neill, and Bob Dole reached the Grand Compromise that has governed our politics (and ruined our nation) ever since then - The Republicans could run on tax cuts, the Democrats could run on more spending, and the government would borrow money or print it as necessary to protect both interests.
Universal Health Care is so big that it will destroy this arrangement.
Liz should focus test an obvious, totally-non-transparent dodge. I think she'd find it is universally disliked. Even her supporters cringe when she starts into to her dodge, not because they are uncomfortable about her lying, they're not, but they are uncomfortable with her lying in such an obvious fashion. Hell, even her allies in the MSM can't take it.

Doing an acceptable version of Universal Health Care is not impossible, it isn't even very hard IF the existing two parties give up their favorite voting blocs.
This they won't do, which is why they won't be around much longer.
The amount of waste in current spending on hospital services, nursing care, drugs, DME, and physicians is beyond imagination.
Universal Health Care can be done, but it will require large tax increases and the end of many powerful bribery rackets (lobbies) which now control the Congress.
I believe (after 45 years in the industry) that the care of the uninsured could be handles 80% from elimination of waste and 20% from tax increases, but none of that is possible under the existing political regime.
About 60% of all US medical care costs are now government paid.
Medicare Part B costs are somewhat over 60% federal government paid.
The main changes would be:
1. employers would pay the IRS instead of Aetna, Humana or a Blue Cross/Blue Shield
2. private employees would have their health care payroll deductions go to the IRS instead of to a health insurer via their employer
3. public employees would generally pay more
4. federal tax rates on higher income people would rise.
The main cost change would be a major and costly expansion of old age custodial nursing home care.
Public employees with Platinum Cadillac coverage at nearly no or absolutely no personal cost are the biggest opponents of “Medicare for All”.
“even if the dems took EVERY penny from anyone making $2000,000 “
You pay dearly for health care every time you buy a house, groceries or a domestically made car. And pay property tax...
