California blackness carries no weight in Yankee land
It carries no weight because it ain't $loaded$. Housing prices in the Bay Area are high. Ordinary blackness, whiteness or Oriental-ness can't afford the price of a house.
People are usually stuck renting.
It's better off that people thinking of moving to California ... shouldn't. Too darn pricey.
She lost a lot of black support on the drug incarceration issue (after laughing when asked if she smoked weed); blacks (with the exception of Willie Brown) can’t relate to her at all.
Cory “T-Bone Spartacus” Booker has the same problem; his black opponent in Newark NJ mayoral races destroyed his “street cred” completely. He ran and (eventually) won as an outside interloper with outside interloper money.
