Bevin had a 30% approval rate. He ticked off the teachers by trying to fix their pension problems the dems have created the last 75 years.

Also Beshear was the Atty General during Bevins term and did to Bevin what the dems are doing to Trump. Endless investigations, thwarting everything in court.

Republicans crushed the other 7 statewide races by 100-300k. Bevins lost by 6k. Honestly surprised its that close. Beshear was up 10-15 points most of the year. Bevins closed late due to the impeachment stuff in Washington and support from Trump and Pence.

KY is a firmly red state. Bevins was an anolomy. Trump will win KY easily and Amy McGrath will not beat McConnell.

Bevin was only the second Republican Governor in Kentucky since 1971!
Only two in the last ten has been Republicans!

Prior to Matt Bevin, Andy Breshear’s Father, Steve Breshear, was Governor!

Remember that.

"Why did Bevin lose? Did he have scandals?"

Let's say Bevin's style is abrasive and at best he is a lousy campaigner. He also dared to try and rectify the state teachers pension funding problem by requiring increased contributions from the educators and school boards.By doing the right thing Bevin did not make a lot of things.

Stunning upset? That’s not what they were saying this AM. From NBC News, Nov. 5, 2019, 8:29 AM EST =>

_________

Democratic and Republican observers believe the race is a toss-up, but the nationalization of our politics (see Trump campaigning for Bevin last night) could give the GOP the slightest of edges.

Kentucky is an odd state in terms of partisan politics.

It's a deep "red" state at the Federal level, but Democrats have won 10 of the last 12 governor's races before today.

That's only when Republicans win.

When the Democrat wins, 0.03% is a "Stunning Mandate," and "The People Have Spoken," and "The Results Of The Electoral Process Are Clear, And A New Direction Has Been Chosen."

From the NBC link:

“Turnout appeared to be higher than expected and is estimated at 1.4 million — roughly 400,000 more than the last governor’s contest in 2015.”

That would be a 40% increase in turn out!

Bottom Line...

Republicans and Conservatives are a minority in the USA.

When the Democrats get their core voters to the polls, Republicans everywhere are in trouble.
