Opinion | It’s not the guns, it’s the ammunition
HARTFORD COURANT ^ | NOV 05, 2019 | RON BERLER

Posted on 11/06/2019 4:57:23 PM PST by IndispensableDestiny

Today, one can walk into a gun shop and purchase, for instance, a .22, .38 or .44-caliber handgun. Most firearms are built to accommodate one size round only. Here’s what would happen if the manufacture of today’s standard-size rounds were outlawed, and .21, .37, or .43-caliber rounds took their place: Eventually, gun owners would run out of the old ammo, and their weapons would become paperweights.

Yet another example of why people who know nothing about firearms should not propose gun control ideas.

>>>and .21, .37, or .43-caliber rounds took their place<<<

I guess I’d have to upgrade my Gun Collection then, buying all those brand new .21, .37 and .43 Caliber Handguns and Rifles.

My Wife will be pissed at me.

Talk about stimulating the Trump Economy that I’m sure this Nimrod hates with a passion.

What a maroon. First of all, nobody is going to make those size rounds because there is no market for them. Such a change is a defacto ban which is just as illegitimate, according to the Supreme Court in other precedent, as an overt ban. OR, conversely, people will smith their weapons to fit those rounds etc.

Second, people can load their own rounds. Are they going to outlaw tooling that is used widely to manufacture spare parts in every factory in America?

Third, propose the ban and watch the stockpiling.

Fourth, what are you going to do for police and military? Nationalize the ammunition manufacturing?

I am sure others can go on their own rants...

Not gonna happen. As long as there is a market for a particular caliber, someone will make it. Besides, there are literally hundreds of calibers.

The stupid is strong with this one.

Shall someone tell it a .38 really isn’t .380”? etc. etc.

Nah.

Wait until he hears that .357 and .38 are the same. Mind blown!

We all know why they want “GUN CONTROL”.

They want to control you & eventually herd you into the cattle cars.

It’s never about “protecting” society or anybody else.

An 1861 Navy colt will do you in just as fast as any modern revolver. And bullets can be cast, and powder can be made at home. It can be reloaded with an extra full cylinder or two just as fast as a modern revolver.

And how many calibers is/was the venerable old M1911A1 available in...? I loved my Colt conversion unit— .45acp to .22lr. $70 in 1975, 6x for a boxed original now. Ow!

I’m sure a .21 will fit a .22 just fine. Of course the bullet diameter is only one aspect of whether one round will fit in a firearm. There’s also cartridge size and shape, as well as propellant amount.

Fifth, they could just buy replacement barrels in the new calibers and keep using their existing guns with the new ammo.

These leftists are SO ignorant it boggles my mind.
