That is actually correct. Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one. Benjamin Franklin even once remarked that a president could be impeached just for being rude.
So you dont need a crime to constitutionally impeach a president. But without a crime, the whole thing looks like a farce, something a banana republic would try.

Yes you do - you need to prove "high-crimes and misdemeanors." The fact that the trial is conducted by the Senate rather than in a court of law does not remove that requirement.

But without a crime, the whole thing looks like a farce, something a banana republic would try. True, as long as the media reports the proceedings accurately. Clearly, Schiff isn't losing sleep over the possibility of an in-depth CNN expose on his preliminary dealings with the "whistleblower."

Maybe you subscribe to that 'living constitution' thing.
