I checked with our local dental school, you have to fit a criteria. I don’t fit it. Insurance...we are Medicare/Tricare Life as hubby spent 20 yrs in the Navy retiring as a SCPO. So no Dental.

Had 11 lower teeth left, some time in the night the crown came lose in the last molar, cracking it down the center. No crown to be found, since it was gold hubby got his metal detector out. No luck, dentist pulled the cracked dead roots. That left me with 10 painful lower front teeth. Thought it would be simple to just get those pulled as they were bowed outward, spreading and painful due to medication I have to take causing receding gums. And you need molars to chew and I had none now. Both uppers and lowers.

Well it didn’t go well, Bone Spurs had to be taken off, then the jaw Re-sculpted. Might as well say 3 surgeries. I’m a 5 Autoimmune patient, my dentist of 20+ yrs has no knowledge of Autoimmune’s So the RED DYE I react to caused problems as did the chemicals the teeth are made of. Most he’s ever done is fillings and 1 root canal. 10 months and no lower teeth.

There are 1OO known Autoimmune diseases. The 1 big thing most have in common is sensitivity to dyes and chemicals. My mouth was on fire the day he put them in and never stopped even after a round of Prednisone, they were so large they had to be Relined before they came near fitting. It’s been 3 months, nothing has changed. The denture doesn’t fit right, the dye is a big issue. Nor do they adhere with any of the denture adhesives. I’ve been told there is NO product for Autoimmune patients. All in all with 3 surgeries, dentures, reline about $8 k for just a lower denture not fit to wear. Hubby has worn dentures for years the gum material is a light pink not Bubble GUM color which means it’s got a lot of red dye in it. It all comes pre mixed now. He had to file my upper molars down to the fillings, only the right side were to long, and are still to long. Result you can’t floss your upper teeth as they are now melded together at the bottoms. The Left side didn’t need to be touched, just the Right he did both, and they are not even smooth. It would do no good to get them remade if they can’t provide a product for Autoimmune patients.

No one knows where to send a Autoimmune patient for dental work. Implants were not feasible, my jaw is to small. Upper teeth are painful and bowed inward same reason receding gums from medications. 10 months of Hell.
