Rapper Kanye West spit it through the razor wire on Friday with two secret performances at the Harris County Jail.
"This is a mission, not a show," he told the jailhouse crowd repeatedly.
Men in orange put their hands up and smiled as they watched the singer and his gaggle of dancers, wearing navy jail-like scrubs for the show. Looking down from the second tier, men pressed up against the glass as they listened to hits from his gospel-themed Jesus is King album, according to video released by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
After kicking off with one performance for more than 200 men at the 701 San Jacinto building, West ducked down into the underground tunnel and turned up in the main Baker Street jail to do a second show for a smaller crowd of women.

HOORAY Kanye!
Good for Him!!, I hope some of the inmates see the light and straighten up.
Say what you want about the man, he has his priorities in order. God speed Kanye.
I missed the boat somewhere. Should have just bitched about stuff, gotten HUD and welfare, ripped off the world, gone to prison for free education and hip hip concerts
God bless and keep Kanye West.
The service in Dayton, Ohio was moving.
Good for him! We need people spreading positive, inspirational messages in these dark times.
Observation: Not a Caucasian to be found in the pics, show people or prisoners.
The photos look like negatives of the MN state fair. ;)
Thrilled he has found Jesus. Not thrilled he is visiting a prosperity gospel, smarmy preacher in the person on Joel Osteen
They are in the video.
Not many, in the back.
Perhaps he did this song.
If you’re ever in Houston, well, you better do the right
You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down
The next thing you know, boy, oh, you’re prison bound
I tend to agree but its part of a journey and I hope Kanye keeps moving forward.
I don’t consider it music at all, but I respect the guy for what he’s doing.
I admit I thought Kanye was a cynical opportunist showman looking for a way to rake it in with a new direction, but now believe he may just be the real deal...
Imagine all the influence for the betterment of our society if more “celebs” used their fame and followed Kanye’s example...
God Bless and God Speed, Kanye...
I agree it’s part of a journey. I pray the God fully uses Kanye for His own glory. Osteen makes my skin crawl. Like a used car salesman.
I am skeptical of his actions. BUT he is building interest for church going in a segment of society that has not been interested before. That isn’t a bad thing, hope it has staying power.
Kudos to Kanye - he’s using his fame and talent to try to make a positive difference. If even one inmate decides to turn his life around due to this, Kanye will have accomplished more than most of his critics ever will.
“I missed the boat somewhere. Should have just bitched about stuff, gotten HUD and welfare, ripped off the world, gone to prison for free education and hip hip concerts.”
Yes. The boat you missed is named “Grace.” Not too late to hop on board.
Your comment sounds very much like the prodigal son’s disgruntled brother.
The door is open and he's gonna preach the gospel. He may save Joel and his congregration.
LOL you just missed the dark humor. My prayers for Kanye is to stay the course and not burn out before the finish line.
