I could be wrong, but I think the Senate is the jury.
And the jury doesn't get to determine who can be a witness.
Supreme Court Chief Justice determines such things, I think. And Roberts has a conflict and ought to step down so that someone else can run the show.
I know SO LITTLE about this process.

Like a grand jury decision doesn’t really mean much to the jury in a trial, i’m thinking this is the same way.
It’s funny because I brought out this same point about conflict of interest even before I saw that articles have been put out just in the last day about this....
Not saying I was clairvoyant but the thrust and flow of the controversy led my thinking there and by Jove, several articles in the last couple of days have come out pushing this same type of thing about Roberts....
I think the hidden powers that be may be signaling that the effort to oust Trump isn’t worth the reward....that Trump is spoiling to pull the curtains back to expose the men and women hiding behind them....!
Look for a wimpy censure effort and some “quid pro quo” arm twisting with Trump to make this all go away.
Besides the money people may have discovered that Trump has been making them a lot of money with the policies he has put in place and thus,why should they let the Deep State spoil their newest golden goose!?
