My wife and I watched a half hour of the Irishman and turned it off. We had anticipated it for a while and were really looking forward to it.

That said, they were incredibly successful at making the characters look real in the flashbacks to their younger days. Deniro really looked like he did 30 years ago. I don’t know how they did it. It was a LOT better than the same effect in the Tron sequel with Jeff Bridges.

Mind if I ask why you turned it off (without spoilers)? My wife and I are looking forward to watching as well.

There’s a after the Irishman movie session where Joe Peschi, DeNiro, Pacino and the director all talk about how they did the aging and new digital method they used.

I don’t know how they did it.

They're using a new computer imaging tool. I saw it on Nicole Kidman on a movie my wife watched, "Aquaman." She had been getting copious doses of botox and her skin was all puffed up.

But now they can do it in the editing room.

Sort of like when they cloud the lens on the closeup shots on people's noses to hide the pores in their skin.
