House Judiciary Committee unexpectedly delays planned vote on Trump articles of impeachment

In a surprise move that outraged his Republican colleagues, House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler broke up a marathon impeachment hearing shortly before midnight Thursday without allowing members to cast their planned votes on articles of impeachment against President Trump.

After more than 14 hours of brutally partisan debate, Nadler suddenly gaveled out the hearing and told the panel’s 40 members to return at 10 a.m. Friday for a vote on the articles.

“It is now very late at night. I want members on both sides of the aisle to think about what has happened over these last days and to search their consciences before we cast our final votes,” Nadler (D-N.Y.) said before recessing, prompting gasps and shouts from the committee’s Republicans. Georgia Rep. Doug Collins, the panel’s top Republican, told reporters outside the hearing room that Nadler’s “integrity is gone.”

“This committee is more concerned about getting it on TV in the morning than it was finishing its job tonight and letting the members go home,” Collins said. "Words cannot describe how inappropriate this was … I’m just beyond words at this point.”

The British results should put dread into the dems. It is a harbinger of what is to come for them.

Crooked Republicans and Dims don’t want no Senate trial to reveal their deep swamp corruption for the world to see.

Yah...can you imagine Democrat senators thinking about this??? We've already seen the "evidence" from the house and it's been shredded with practically no witnesses for Donald Trump. Can you just imagine calling ALL the other people who actually HEARD the phone call and everyone of them saying "Yeah, that phone was perfect. Nothing wrong it.". Can you imagine calling as witnesses President Zelensky and him saying "Yeah, the Democrats are lying and yeah, Biden is corrupt.".

A Senate trial will be a slam dunk for Trump if he's allowed to call who he wants.

Stanton was my mayor. I doubt he would be a NO.

The clown car just keeps on rolling along. I hope they don’t have the votes after this. Surely there are some dems that still have brains working.

Maybe some Republicans are getting cold feet. If going home for the weekend these votes are more likely to be in the minds of constituents. I saw in a Tuesday newspaper that the guy from the Steel Dossier was friends with Ivanka before he got involved in doing the research that resulted in the Dossier. Wonder if that “think carefully” advice has something to do with this?

If so, then Nadler is a piece of sh*t! But also possible some cold feet and he may not have the votes.

You got the first part right about Nagler!

Either they don't have the votes, OR sanity finally struck them and they thought a little bit about what a trial in the Senate would really look like.

First up is Hunter. Full public display of addictions, brother's wife, new baby mama, Burisima qualifications, etc. DJT stops calling Biden "Slow Joe" and starts calling him "Gramps Biden".

A re-run of Horowitz, but with the spin that of course all these things happened because of bias.

The trial drags on and on, immobilizing all of the viable RAT candidates except the fatally wounded Biden and Mayor Buttplug.

Yup, this is a great idea.

WTF are you talking about? Republicans are united and will vote against this travesty.

". . . I want members on both sides of the aisle to think about what has happened over these last days and to search their consciences before we cast our final votes,” Nadler (D-N.Y.) said.

No you don't, Naddie boy.

If congress people "searched their consciences" before voting, your side would lose bigly!

The tide is really turning against them.

The smartest thing they could do is vote this down in the committee.
The dumbest thing they could do is send it to the Senate and risk a trial that exposes corruption.

The process has been so unfair in the house, that if they vote to go forward they just look like idiots. If they stop now they could blame the whole fiasco on Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler.

For those of us who’ve been watching closely for signs that they’re going to refuse to jump off the bridge “for the sake of the country”, that statement raises eyebrows. Sadly, I suspect it’s just wishful thinking. They’ve already done their pre-need planning and they’re going over the edge.

The timing of the Graham hearing was no coincidence - it was intentionally set to coincide with the Brit elections and it worked

The entire world was watching the drama unfold in the impeachment hearings and the Brits drew all the right conclusions
