Nancy Pelosi shot down cheers from her own party with a stare and a hand gesture as she gaveled in the passage of the first article of impeachment against President Trump Wednesday night.
As she announced the Democrats had garnered 230 “yay” votes on the article accusing Trump of using his office for personal gain, jubilant Democrats began to cheer and clap.
Pelosi then banged her gavel and declared the article had been adopted - then quickly waved her left hand and shot a look at her Democratic colleagues.
The House speaker had earlier in the day ordered her colleagues not to gloat - and wore a funereal black dress to what she repeatedly called the “solemn” proceedings.
Pelosi and other Democratic leaders told their members not to cheer or applaud when the impeachment vote totals were announced, Axios reported, and many members described the day as sad and solemn.

Uh? Wait? What? So, the press can now interpret Article I anyway they want?
My oh my, this is what they were after. It matters not what happens in the Senate they now have their campaign battle cry. That's why the charges were so broad and so vague. They can have them mean anything they want.
Such manipulation must be illegal. If not, then the ballot box has expired.

They have been making that claim ever since he was elected, without ever offering a shred of evidence how he supposedly gained personally from the office. (Since every Congresscritter, especially those in leadership positions, uses their office for personal gain, they are incapable of understanding anyone who is not equally driven by greed.) The articles of shampeachment are their way of formalizing their demagoguery, and have no real meaning except as a political stunt.
We still have the power of the ballot box, although the massive fraud machine threatens it. We must keep fighting.
