I’m surprised Yang is still in the running. I thought he’d be gone by now. This season’s roster of remaining Democratic candidates includes a remarkably large number of private sector people/non-politicians. Bloomberg is technically an ex-mayor, but he received no salary during his NYC tenure, and is better known for his vast personal fortune. Steyer bought his way in.

Yang, on the other hand, has no money to speak of, yet got enough donations and garnered enough support in the polling to stay in, despite zero political connections. Whatever you might say about him, he’s well-organized and nimble. A respectable showing by a nobody in political terms, who doesn’t have the personal funds to push himself to the front of the line. There’s probably a future for him somewhere in Democratic politics.

He promises everyone $1000 a month for life. Of course he’ll get a lot of votes.
