Somehow I've never heard of that "ugly stereotype." I've been watching and listening to female journalists for decades and it never occurred to me that they get their tips through sex. I think this "ugly stereotype" is something they just made up for the sake of obtaining victim status, which is so cherished these days.

For one recent example 22 year old reporterette Ali Watkins practically slept her way to a Pulitzer Prize. She told the New York Times about her affair with Senate Intelligence Committee member James A. Wolfe that leaked classified info to her and they not only were ok with it, they recognize it as standard practice.
