He is an extreme never Trumper, saying several times that he did NOT vote for Trump. He was a very successful businessman before becoming governor but takes credit for Marylands improved employment numbers, etc when they are due to Trumps policies, not to any new Maryland laws or decreased regulations. Maryland has the nations highest median income due to the many people who work for the federal government or its contractors. If Maryland were not located next to DC, its anti-business policies would have its economy among the worst in the nation. He has been a big disappointment to me.

Yes, Hogan is very popular with the Democrats in Maryland - conservatives not so much. Had his opponent been other than Ben Jealous he would not have won reelection (in my opinion). He has been critical of Trump since before the election. Loves to brag that his father was the first Republican congressman to turn against Nixon.
