I take a differing view...

The Fifth Amendment protects against self-incrimination, which in turn protects the privacy of personal information.

If someone makes a call, it travels over mobile towers or the internet. It is fair game with a warrant.

Apple offers a product that they do not hold the ability to “unlock” because the user alone knows how to unlock it.

Not only does Apple have the ability, so does NSA. And anyone else with supercompute capability.

They make the MOST profit on that product.
That’s why they offer it.
Same for other companies.

Of course it is of no extra worth to the customer since the user will give the code to any criminal upon torture of them or their loved ones.
And to the government upon imprisonment for contempt.

But … more profit!!!

Apple will unlock your phone if you are willing to wait 10 days. It is possible, they just make you jump through some email hoops to do it.
