Yep. The Senate GOP just want to get the impeachment trial ball rolling. They are tossing some vague red meat to gaslight us and move the impeachment ball down the field. The back stab will be later. Key witnesses (the hoaxblower, Biden, Biden Jr.) will be declared not germane to the charges (as the House Dems have already said) and POTUS will be faced with either 1) backing down or 2)a huge intra party GOP food fight mid impeachment trial and in an election year.
That was a sentiment that the whole thing really had no legal standing or basis - he would love to be able to call witnesses and get a “Not Guilty of a Damn Thing” result.
Remember how they did witnesses. They had to approve them, in other words, witnesses hostile to Trump were the only ones allowed to speak.
