Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a state of emergency on Wednesday that bars any weapons from the Richmond’s Capitol Square from Friday to Tuesday, after he received credible intelligence that hate groups and armed militias are planning violence at next Monday’s Lobby Day against gun control legislation.
Northam, who discussed the threats at a news conference, said the state’s law enforcement analysis found that the chatter on the internet and other venues mirrored similar messages seen around the time of the 2017 Charlottesville "Unite the Right" rally, which left three dead and more than 30 injured
The governor declined to give exact details about the threats and the persons making them, but said that these groups, who were coming from outside of the state, talked about storming the Virginia Capitol.

My first thought as I read the headline.
There ought to be a clever way around this without provoking a confrontation, because that’s what they want. I suspect they will do all they can to stoke the fires and probably have one of their own masquerading as a gun rights supporter. Don’t be lured into a trap.
The people planned to peaceably assemble to petition the Government for a redress of grievances in response to shockingly unconstitutional proposed legislation infringing on our individual, God-given right to keep and bear arms. The response from the thug in the governor's office? He decided to trample our First Amendment rights alongside the Second Amendment. Totalitarians disgust me.
Shouldn't he be banning *automobiles*, then? And the Communist/Anarchists (Antifa) ?

Declaring an Emergency to stop Free Virginians from doing what they want on Lobby Day is like trying to stop a hurricane by pissing into the wind.

Seems like a very simple solution. Show up armed, get arrested, have one heck of a fun time with the judicial system. Fundamental right given by God is to address our elected leaders with grievances. Also a fundamental right not to do so defenseless.
The problem in MA would be that you would lose your right to carry based on the “conviction” depending on the status.
Even if they continue to reanimate Ginsberg, I don't see anything in that which would stand up to SCOTUS examination. Disenfranchising someone's right to vote and carry a gun for a direct protest of the banning of them carrying a gun? I doubt any federal court wants to go down that avenue in any form or fashion. Even the 9th has tossed convictions like that.
But what right to carry would survive these laws?

I agree. It’s time to test the limits of the jury box. The unjust 18th Amendment was eventually rescinded due to hundreds/thousands of juries saying “No, thank you” to the U.S. Congress, 3/4 states and millions of suffragettes and Temperance Union people. Unfortunately, by 1933, gangsters owned dozens of cities and continue to this day.
If a million firearms owners stay in Virginia for the duration, the legislature won’t stay Demonrat. I’m referring to voting the rascals out en masse in 2020.
