Report : The FBI recently unlocked an iPhone 11 Pro with GreyKey, raising more doubts about the Pensacola case.

As Apple stands firm against requests to break iPhone encryption, many people have questioned why the FBI needs Apple’s help in the first place. There are plenty of tools available from third-party companies that are more than capable of unlocking the iPhone 5 and iPhone 7 used by the Pensacola gunman.

Further emphasizing that point, a new report from Forbes says that the FBI recently used one of those black/gray market tools to unlock the newest — and theoretically the most secure — iPhone that Apple sells.

According to the report, FBI investigators in Ohio used the GrayKey hardware box to unlock an iPhone 11 Pro Max. The phone in question belonged to Baris Ali Koch, who was being accused of helping his convicted brother escape the country by letting him use his passport.

The two iPhones used by the Pensacola shooter were an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 7. As we’ve said before, the FBI can easily unlock these devices using third-party solutions. In fact, the FBI could likely use the same exploit it used to unlock the iPhone 5C used by the San Bernardino shooter in 2015.

So why are the FBI, President Trump, Attorney General William Barr, and others all calling on Apple itself to break iPhone encryption? The most obvious possibility is that it’s a political move, designed to help push through legislation that would require Apple and other tech companies to include backdoors in all hardware and software.

The FBI agents/techs handling the Pensacola iPhones are clearly idiots.

No, I don’t think so. I think they want Apple to help them easily spy on people and the is their latest excuse. Screw the FBI.

They are either idiots, don’t want to find out what’s on the phone, or don’t want the information they believe to be on the phone to get out.

But when China wants the Apple’s source code so they can use iPhone to spy on people,

.......Apple happily bends over, grabs its ankles and loudly proclaim, “YES SIR!”

I have no doubt that to be allowed to sell iPhones in China, Apple must have agreed to give the Chinese Government everything to access and manipulate the operating system.

It could also be misdirection by Trump. Let the jihadis who were in contact with the shooter think they are safe.

Just saying I can’t rule out a cover-up. Unfortunate, but who around here can say they trust the FBI?

I do agree they have the added agenda of trying to leverage Apple to give them a back door.

Meanwhile, they criticize Huawai for being a tool of the ChiComs.

Something like that ... but only for phones made for and sold in China. The Chinese people are OK with that and accept it ...not that they have any choice. The folks and phones made for outside of China customers...PRIVACY REIGNS!

Anyone who thinks the NSA can't get into an Iphone in under 30 secs is an idiot.

They are the best of the best. Once or twice a year they start a narrative about how they can't get in and bad guys go get Iphones and do their nefarious business.

Yes....also embarassing Apple as unwilling to help find out who the terrorist are. It may be a ruse also. Aplle could be helping...but doesnt want anyone to know...so terrorists think they have a buffer if they use iPhones...good for apple optics...usa optics...and they stiil get the info.

And the government PROMISES not to abuse the built-in back door. You can probably hear my eyes roll.

It might be that they couldn’t use the info in court if it was gathered by a bootleg software.

All it takes to break into an iphone, or any other phone is a good hacking program. All it takes is a phone number or even a fb account. There are many ways to access the phone’s emei
number or what kind of phone it is. Lots of ways hackers do this. And no, they don’t need your password to get in. How they do it, i don’t know. All I know is I’ve seen brand new phonws broken into within 30 minutes of brand new purchase.

And if there is a circle bot thing going on...a person’s life can be tormented horribly.

Hillary couldn’t let it ago and neither could Warren. I don’t know if a woman can win but I think we have some pretty good evidence for the fact that they shouldn’t win.
